    Hi all! ^_^

I just joined hubpages because it looked like a lot of fun and a good way to talk about .... anything, as well as befriend people along the way.  While I do enjoy sharing my interests, I was wondering if there's any way of finding out 'hot' topics.  That way I'd know for sure that I wouldn't be talking to myself after picking a topic that only appealed to me.

But then again I rant so I might eventually stumble upon a popular topic... I just hope that it doesn't take too long.

Requests are good and also check out WordTracker.com and look at the top search phrases to see what people "out there" are really looking for. smile

    Pay a visit to http://www.google.com/trends

Then click on the "more trends" link to see a list of 100.

Also go to www.trendhunter.com and have a look at the latest things that may become hot topics soon.

    Good luck - Eric G.

Be careful when picking a topic. Make sure that it is something you can be passionate about. Writing  quality articles consistently and continually is a big part of success and it is not something you want to try to accomplish if you are not deeply interested in the subject matter.

Watch out for writing about topics on the most commonly searched lists because you want to make sure that you write hubs that are going to be searched long term versus a hot topic that may only last in the top searches for a few days.

Write about what you like. Hobbies. How to's etc.

View Yahoo! Buzz daily and check out the Buzz log. http://buzz.yahoo.com/
I would view the different categories, drill down the buzz topics that interest you most using Google trends as Eric suggested. If you're goal is to create Hubs that can earn you money, I would use  Amazon's Bestsellers http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers and/or eBay Pulse http://pulse.ebay.com/. You will need to use a keyword tool to estimate the search demand - you can use http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ to generate up to 100 keywords for free (which is more than you will need per topic for Hubpages). Don't forget to check the competing number of pages in Google for any of your search terms.

There are many more ways to generate ideas for Hubs. Keep in mind the excellent advice Whitney05 and SteveMark have given you.
