Seriously, aunt flow has been in the house for like 14 days now, has anyone been on the rag for a long time like this?
Im afraid that Im bleeding to death.
Don't worry you're not bleeding to death. 14 days is a bit abnormal.
I can speak first hand about this. I had an abnormal flow and I had to take birth control to help keep my flow regular. I suggest that you talk to your gynecologist and see there isn't something they can suggest.
I'd say it depends on your age and your daily routine...are you usually a very physically active person? Are your periods usually of normal amount, consistent and on time each month...or have you always had irregular periods? Is this really out of the ordinary for you? Have you had extra stresses recently in your life? Is everything else in your life pretty much the usual?
I do think of a period as being a form of physical cleansing and that an ocassional irregular flow is ok. But if you are dizzy or light headed and beginning to feel weak, I would certainly see a health practitioner, i.e. a Naturopath or someone that practices oriental medicine. If you are a mainstream doctor type of person, then see them.
I do think you should have it checked out, because it can be a sign of some not good things starting to happen...or not.
There are herbs that you could try first, to staunch the flow..I would have to spend some time researching that, or you could talk to an herbalist at your local natural health food store or phone book listings, to find out.
Take care,

since it has already been two weeks, I would check with a doctor or health practitioner now.
but here are just a few web sites to look for information to decide for yourself (tune into your highest inner guidance) what to do. Knowledge is the best key to use to decide.
holistic-herbalist.com
henriettesherbal.com
herbs2000.com/disorders/menstrual_prob.htm
mothernature.com search 'heavy periods'
chineseherbsacupuncture.com
about.com see menorrhagia (mainstream medicine)
horsetail, Uva Ursi, witchhazel and shepard's purse (most commonly used) are good for excessive flow (try one; make a tea from the dried herb)
raspberry tea is a good preventative of excessive flow
avoid fruits and fruit juices and stimulants i.e. caffeine, sugar, etc
eat warm foods i.e soups and things easy to digest
an oriental herb ; Yunnan Bai Yao
