And wanted to say thank you to everyone for so much help and guidance as I learn. Every day seems to bring a new tidbit that I realize I need to rework and what a wonderful group of people to help me through the process! Today, I learned the need to write your own summary texts. This coming week will be the big test to see how much it helped. Thanks again!
I would love to have you share what you learned about improving your hubs with me. Any big secrets??
Will let you know if it works. Basically I surf the forums and look for tidbits, then try to implement them. Today I followed some info that was dropped into a hub about summary texts - said to write your own not necessarily let the system do it for you. Generally the system just picks up your opening statements and mine don't ususally include key words or phrases, so I rewrote the summaries to include some of these. I'm waiting to see what the results are. One day I reworked a bunch titles - I was raised on creative writing but it appears that internet writing works better with keywords prominately placed in the titles. Making those changes helped. I just keep learning, it's the reason I love HP so much. I'm a novice to internet writing and don't twitter or have a facebook page, I'd rather just write.
I read very early on the importance of writing your own summary, which I have done. My problem is it doesn't always "keep". I uncheck the automatic calculation, copy my summary into the box. Then half the time when I go back to check it, or go back to my hub on different occasions, it has reverted back to the "automatic". Anybody know what's with that?
Oh lordy, I hope I didn't spend the day in vain! Will have to check tomorrow.
This used to happen to me too until I realised I need to save the hub as soon as i've changed the summary. If you then go on and make other changes before saving it will revert back. HTH!
BTW, RM, I added your hub to my "Sensory Analyst" hub today. At least that was productive.
when I first started on hubpages I wasn't rewriting the summary text on most of my hubs, then I went through and did a bunch of them together like you and I did start getting more traffic within a few days. I hope it works out like that for you too - I think it probably will.
Interesting...I'll have to go back and take a look at some of mine. I've never thought about writing my own summary, I just always let it pull from the text. Gonna try this and see if it helps my traffic.
I started doing this about the same time The Rose did and have seen an increase. I am changing a few other things too but yeah the main one is changing the summary.

Since my steady stream of freelance work dried up a while back, I have looked into opportunities available in the world of Internet writing. What I found took me way outside of my comfort zone.In the past, I was given a monthly quota of articles to write. I was comfortable with this- just write the...

I try to respond to everybody who takes the time to comment on my hubs. I really appreciate that they cared enough to do that. But when people want to get into some kind of on and on and on debate I start to resent that. I feel like, hey, I stated my position in my hub---I took the time to write an...

I saw this topic on another forum thread I belong too. I thought it was real interesting. For me, it has been a tool for breaking me out of my depression. I'm no longer moody, crying, and tired all the time. I look forward to coming here, after I have logged online. Being...

Hi!I am new to HubPages and need HELP! I joined a couple of days ago and have only been able to publish one article. I am unclear as to how postings work. I was under the impression that once I chose a title for my hub, I could just continue to add new topics. I want my Hub...
