What Horror Movie scared/creeped you out the most?

   Following a new trend on the forums, I thought I would ask you what horror movie scared you (or creeped you out) the most?
   
   For me it 'The Cottage'
   
   I know 'The Cottage' was meant to be funny but it failed in the humour department. It just freaked me out.

      So many to choose from, but for me it was "The Entity"... or maybe "Salem's Lot"..... or possibly "The Shining"..... sighs, a very hard choice to make.

      I have to say, I recently watched the new movie 'Paranormal Activity' and it has to be the freakiest thing I've ever seen. Especially becuase I've been told its a true story.
      This is the one movie that actually freaked me out and I love horror movies, and out of all the ones I have ever seen none of them got to me like this.
      I would deffinatly reccommend this!

      I have huge issues with 'The Shining'.
      
      Namely I read the book first and the film is nothing like it. Kubrick wrecked 'The Shining' for me.

         The Shining is the one single movie based from King's work that I like. Actually, I love it - I'm a fan of Kubrick, and I'll always watch a movie if Nicholson is in it.
         
         I think about it like a "based on a true story" movie, the book being the true story.
         The book itself is one of the very best.
         
         The movie that actually scared me the most was Silence of the Lambs. I had to stop on my way home from the theater to get gas and I was terrified to get out of the car. (I lived in a very small town then, no people really out and about that late at night. Very eerie.) Then, when I made it home, I ran full speed into the house and slammed the door shut.
         
         Movies don't usually continue scaring me after I've finished watching them.

         The books that came first are always better if you ask me. Films at best are an imitation, frequently with a bit too much artistic licence used

       Silent Hill is one of those films to follow in the footsteps of a video game. The Resident Evil films also did this, they're also quite good.

          Once I tell people how they filmed it and how the actors were literally starving towards the end of the movie, they appreciate it more.
          
          The techniques they used to get the actors to show real emotion is pretty crazy.

    I'm pretty disturbed by Paranormal Activity, it scared me because my boyfriend's brother told me stories of his night terrors and it's pretty similar to what happened in the movie, well not the parts closer to the end of it.  Am I crazy for thinking about it all the time?

    Mermaid in the Manhole...best gross factor ever.
    
    Orphan was actually creepy...pretty good film I must say. Pleasantly surprised.

       First horror film to win an academy award, if I'm not mistaken.
       I had not seen either actor before this film which made it more cool. It's easier to get into the character when you aren't familiar with the actors.

          You'd never seen either of them? Hmm. Perhaps it is for the best,although Anthony Hopkins is known for playing out-of-the-box roles.

             Yup it's true.
             I have trouble when I know the actor from a different film or show - it's hard for me to get into the new character when I recognize them from something else.
             For instance, Ted Levine on the show Monk. Seen it?
             He is still Buffalo Bill to me, it takes me right out of the story when he shows up on screen

    the ring series. Oh and freddy.  i watched freddy again last year and i still got nightmares lol! i think it scared me worse.  the movies are not scary but somehow the bugger gets in my head while i sleep

    The first horror movie to really scare me was "Lets Scare Jessica to Death." It is considered the break out movie for the modern horror flick. There are a lot mentioned here that will make hard to sit still.

    Around Haloween I watched SAW on TV. (The one with weird experiments). It was the most horrific movie I've seen but I had to see the end, so was watching it a bit with one eye.
    
    I thought that was bad and a few days later Ghost Ship was on and the first part of it - Oh my Dayz!!
    
    So glad, Halloween is just once a year.
