Am I Doing Something Wrong?

   Since doing the Hub Challenge I have tried to balance my Hubs.
   I do some beautiful women, and some paranormal, comic book, tech stuff etc.
   My women Hubs are the high traffic, while the Hubs I think are good and solid drop like rocks.
   Okay sex sells....I get that.
   But I try to even balance my "sexy" Hubs by doing a write up about each woman, not just focus on how she looks.
   
   So I go looking around and I see Hubs with pictures of bare breasted models, just their hands covering their naughty bits, almost bare butts with skimpy thin T-back thongs that they might as well be nude in.
   And these Hubs are in the 80s and 90s as far as Hub ranks go, with Adsense all over them!
   
   (And forget that "Flag them" thing, that ain't me. I hate "narcs" as we used to call them back in the day)
   
   My question is...am I being too conservative?
   Should I just chuck taste out the door and go for it?
   Hands covering bare breasts are okay, see-through bottoms are cool?
   Am I just being "too old"?
   
   And don't get me wrong, if your reading this and your Hubs are like those I mentioned and you are getting traffic and making money, more power to you.
   I really am happy for you.
   I just wanna know if I'm behind the times here and I need to step it up some.

      Go for it... if you don't mind that you'll probably get your Hubs flagged at some point.

   While I wouldn't change what you are doing unless you just wanted to experiment, I get what you are saying that is for sure. It is disheartening to see those hubs soaring when hard work and effort lags behind.

   Its up to you, but I have read most of your stuff and I like what you are doing.  A touch of class ads to it in my opinion.  I have not looked at any of the nearly naked hubs....  Can you give me directions to those

   By the way, after I posted this, I have noticed this same question has been addressed by several Hubs.
   I guess I should have researched a bit more thoroughly.

   What you need to realize is that traffic is a big percentage of a hub's score. As such, high traffic pages will get a higher hub score.
   
   However (important stuff right here) traffic isn't what you're after - you want clicks, as that's what makes adsense.
   
   I don't have the round numbers, but I would guess that the clicks on all-picture hubs vs. text-based hubs is something like 1:20, meaning the guy doing the all-picture hubs would need about 2,000 visits to get two ad clicks and a person doing text-based bubs would need only 100.
   
   That's because people who go to a hub to look at pictures aren't thinking about buying something -they just want free eye-candy.
   
   I found quite a few on hubpages with a very pretty woman in them by the name of Gajala. All of these picture hubs looked great, but could you actually buy Gajala?
   
   The ads are for more picture galleries ... a tough sell, considering you just gave the customer what they wanted ... pictures of Gajala, right?
   
   The trick is to incorporate the cuties with a product ... like Brazil ... and then tell them how there are so many beautiful women in Brazil and how it is so affordable to vacation there ... let their mind add the two together to realize ... hey ... maybe I want to go to Brazil and see these fly honeys for myself!
   
   First rule of thumb for all monetizing hubs ... have a product to sell ... second rule of thumb ... let the reader lead themselves to the prize.
   
   
   A good example of this would be a hub on fly fishing (ah yes, another fly fishing hub story). Now, you looked at similar hubs and saw how they had many ads regarding fishing reels (this isn't cheating - it's part of research). You say to yourself ... I can sell fishing reels if I do this right!
   
   So ... you write about fly fishing in Canada while showing pics of the great outdoors and you discuss a story about how a rell of yours tangled up on you one time when you had a big one on the line (every fisherman has this tale and shares your woe!). You then discuss how you switched to a better reel (don't name it - just say what type it was) and say you recommend that type highly.
   
   Example, maybe you switched from an open reel to a closed face reel. The brand name doesn't matter - the fact you switched did. You then hope for someone to share that experience and click on the ad for fishing reels on your page. Heck, you could even put up a few Amazon ads for fishing reels - just make sure you never pull them in ... let them pull themselves.
   
   This story to need approach works extremely well, provided you can come up with a real story that others can associate with. It doesn't even need to be your story, it can be something that happened to someone else you know or knew.
   
   Too conservative? Unless you are selling boob jobs, conservative is the recommended way to go ... and ad in words, as a picture isn't worth a thousand words when it comes to getting clicks.

   Yoshi's one of my favorite explainers.  Sunforged and Darkside are good explainers too.  Check out Sunforged's explanation of clicks today.  It was the best explanation I've ever seen about how the split with HubPages works, etc.
