   What are the beliefs of the Muslims, Qu'ran/Koran?
   
   What is the foundational beliefs that Muslim faith teaches to capture believers faith?
   
   I am not looking for all of the small details in the book, only main beliefs of the qu'ran.
   
   Why do so many Muslims condone terrorism? Does Muslim faith teach self human sacrifice is the most honerable? Do most Muslims despise America largely because we are a mostly Christian nation?

      To understand Islam you must know and practice the five pillars of Islam.  They are:
      
      The first pillar is the reciting of the creed, "There is no god but the One God, and Mohammed is his prophet." Muslims repeat this many times every day, believing that saying this in faith and sincerity makes one a Muslim.
      
      The second pillar is daily prayer. Muslims must pray five times each day, facing Mecca, the holy city in Saudi Arabia.
      
      The third pillar is the giving of alms. Muslims are very concerned about caring for the poor, requiring set percentages of income to be given to aid the impoverished.
      
      The fourth pillar is fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim year, commemorating the giving of the Koran to Mohammed. All faithful Muslims fast from dawn to dusk during this month. Because Islam uses a lunar calendar, Ramadan comes at different times each year.
      
      The final pillar is the pilgrimage to Mecca. Every adult Muslim who is financially and physically able is expected to travel to Mecca once during his or her lifetime in the month of Dhul-Hijah. Various rituals and rites are performed during this time in Mecca.
      
      Having examined the five pillars of Islam, we can distill Islam into three foundational beliefs. First, at the core of everything, Islam is the idea of only one God. This is reflected in the first pillar and in everything else Islam is and stands for. To the Muslim, God is one sovereign, almighty and unique being. In Islam, man is not to know God and become more like Him but to learn God's will and become more obedient to His commands. To associate anything or anyone with Allah is incomprehensible to a Muslim and constitutes blasphemy. God is absolutely alone in the place given to Him by Islam.
      
      The number of people practicing Islam are as follows according to various sources:

      As far as SO MANY Islamic people being terrorists I guess you have to do it as a percentage of the totals to figure out if so many is an acurate comparison.
      
      Many misconceptions even within the faith comes from the readings of the Hadiths which were sayings and verbal observations made by Mohammed and were not supposed to be recorded or published.  Many different sects including the Wahhabist are fundamentalists and strictly adhered to the basic principles of Islam through very violent means.

         When I ask why so many support terrorism, maybe this is part of the media hype. Most terrorist I see or hear on the news usually praise Muslim terrorist that kill americans. When you say a suicide can't go to heaven, this leaves room for interpretation. If they believe they are killing to protect and promote faith, they may not see their death as a suicide. You are very helpful. Thanks.

            I read many different holy writings to understand the basis of the different cultures and their customs.  What is very facsinating is our own multi religious and unique cultural traditions that have been formed from our freedom of religion.  It is peculiar why when we have this knowledge from our own country why we can't apply some of it in our relationships with other nations.

               Would a government want 1 religion or many religions? 1 religion is more control. Other countries are a lot more controlled by government than we are because they don't have freedom of religion. One of the many reasons I believe religion was developed simply for government control. It is only logical that there is more control when everyone believes as a team than when the entire team is made of individuals.

                  The politics of religion is a muddy mess when you seek to find out who is in control.  Look at Iraq with the Sunni and the Shia.  They struggle for power even though they are of the same root faith.  I don't know how much the convenience of one religion is in a country as opposed to the numbers it employs to run the other out.  There is the cultural slant that has many sheiks and warlords who don't wish to share power but do from time to time ally themselves to gain back power.  Enemy of my enemy is my friend scenario.  I agree if you could form one religion, the religious and political power combined, the combination would work as a team.  But then you have Iran with the Ayatollah as supreme leader but run by a corrupt prime minister who is in great disfavor with his electorate.  I think the only way the whole thing of government and religion could share power and be as one would be with pure religion and pure government.  The human conundrum would not allow it.

   hi...because america always sided with Israel, my friend is a Muslim and he told me that they go with an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth kind of thing, plus you are honored really if you kill in Allahs name!
