If we shrunk to the size of ants would we change in any way?

Or would we be exactly the same as we are now. For example: how high we can jump, how much we can lift in relation to our body weight, how far we can fall without getting hurt?

I think I understand what your asking. Our bodies would remain the same, but our abilities would change. Gravity would no longer being acting on a 100 or 200 pound body, it would be acting on something in the Miligram range. We would jump higher, could run faster, and lift more, relative to our size. If you took an ant and made it our size, its strength and speed would change. It would be weaker and slower. It's all about Gravity. The more we have acting against us, the harder it is to do things like jump, run, swim.

      Is that what your asking?

We'd get eaten by ants. 'The Incredible Shrinking Man'.

Those anteaters would frighten me in the middle of the night. Any way they would not bother me they do not eat humans.

I think every functionality will remain the same, just like we have dwarfs now

Mankind would become Endangered species big_smile

I think we would adapt and be like ants,  except we would be smarter, or not. smile

I think so too. Have you ever noticed how much ants can carry on their backs relative to their body weight? Or far they can fall relative to their size and not get hurt. I learned in physics years ago that the reason for this is due to their much smaller surface area in relation to the size of the earth. Interesting stuff!

Good point, perhaps if we were lucky enough to develop miniature weapons, we could subdue the ants and make them carry stuff. An ambitious enough tiny human might even be able to build himself an ant army, the likes of which has never been seen before.

If you knew that an ant was the size of a quark, what would you call us?

. Maybe a proton or an electron.

a quark is smaller than an electron or proton...

That's true! And an ant is smaller than a person.

If we could jump 40 feet high, how high could a grasshopper jump?

I think that if we are as human as right now after shrinking also, there would be no difference! Because size does not matter, mind and emotions are matter! Form changing is not important, real transformation is important!

If it is going back to that category of evolution then we would behave like ants!

Well, I feel that this kind of guess and thought processes are part of our present situation. At the same time it indicates that we are not happy with this condition and situation!

Some time fantasies also deals with this kind of processes and we found some kind of satisfaction through that process!

Are you guys complet idiots. This is a topic on science. If we did shrink to the size of ants, everything about us would have to change. Our transport systems would have to be altered. You took Gulliver's Travels too seriously!

Lol. You just watched "Honey-I shrunk the kids!" didn't you. Yes, a lot of things about us would have to change. Remember we are massive amounts of tissues, with having smaller tissues they will need to be altered, and thats just the starting of the answer...

I liked the sci fi 'Them' 1954 James Arness, about giant ants from nuke testing. Not bad for a B movie.

Reminds me of a cartoon when I was a kid called the Littles. But they were about the size of mice. Tails too. smile

Exactly! If some ants fall from the roof of a house, they hit the ground and run away. If a couple of people fall from the roof they don't get up and walk away.

" Well," we wouldn't use as much gas because our cars would be smaller,

wouldn't cost as much for food because we wouldn't eat much,

the world wouldn't be as crowded because everyone is smaller,

you couldn't go outside while it was raining one drop would kill you lol,

this is simpilar veiw not a science veiw.

Haha sandra i did miss that part.

We no doubt wouldn't be serving our kind

it would probaly be giant spiderzillas

unless we all had powerful ray guns

Well one thing's clear we still be doin:

      sex,drugs and rockinroll. =P    cool

Getting ourself Shrunked to the size of ants will require great scientific and technological skills. If we are able to reach this feat, we will have something to cheer upon.  Ants are the size of Ants and I wonder what benefits they get. The only advantage that I can thin of is they can get to any place they want and Bite us at places where we don't want them to bite.

What if we could shrink anteaters down to half the size of ants?

I bet the ants would like that!

    Revenge of the ants!

On a more serious note, the ability to shrink or enlarge humans in a way that was technologically feasible would create enormous and highly interesting philosophical debate on what it means to be human.  Just think about it.

Certainly we will change by our size..! ! !
We will have a lot of living space in this world... if it too does not shrink like the ants. All our dressing problems, bathing problems, dwelling problems will vanish.. like the ants which vanish in hot summer.
