I was wondering if a possible angle for making sales with amazon would be to not have google ads on the hub and only have amazon ones, say for high traffic, low competition stuff where the google ads would only be worth 1p or 2p anyway.

When playing with the keyword tool I have often ignored low paying keywords and wonder if its worth trying one that do get good traffic assuming the competition is not out of my league and there are things on amazon that would be relevant?

To not have AdSense ads, you'd have to pretty much not have any outgoing links, which to me, doesn't offer as much of a useful Hub to the reader.

But if you want to give it a try, I'm willing to hear how your experiments go.

I'm alll for experiementing. But I have noticed something interesting on my hubs. My ebay Christmas hubs are selling like crazy. However my more year-round Amazon hubs, while not producing a high level of Amazon sales have started to produce a rather nice adsense revenue stream. And those clicks havent been one or two cents. I don't optimize for adsense so it has been a very nice surprise.

I don't believe that you can really know the value of clicks that a hubpages will generate. Because adsense moved to a model that will customize the ads a visitor sees based on that visitor's search history.

And just because you optimize for a keyword doesn't mean that you'll only get advertizers for that keyword product. Sometimes you get competitors and related products.

Quite frankly after this experience, I'm adding adsense and Chitika (a similar PPC ad line) to all of my other non hubpages websites.

But as Relache said keep us posted if you do try it.

It sounds like it could be a bit of a long shot from what you guys are saying here, I may well decide to take a punt with this idea at some point when I have the time to write a hub to experiment with this idea. Right now time is short and if I manage to squeeze one in on the weekend I would rather try one with a more likely potential for earning. If/when I do try this angle and if it works then I can always write a hub about how it worked big_smile
