Do any Hubbers have experience of using Second Life (SL) for education or training?  I'm keen to hear  real-life experiences of its use.  I'm very new to SL and my interest, professionally, is in specialised training although I am also a qualified science teacher.

I'm really impressed with what I've seen so far but think its real strengths lie in education; particularly at University level.  If you are interested, I've put my first impressions of SL into a Hub:

I haven't but I believe Stacie has a hub on it. I jsut can't seem to find it.

It was on a CSI episode, where the kilr was picking people through Second Life and then finding them in real life. But that was looking at it from a social standpoint, not educational.

    You have a point Mark!
Whitney - Yes I read Stacie's hub and have linked to it from mine.  Second Life is certainly a fertile ground for movie and TV drama plots!

    Hi rik

I wrote a hub about online education and I covered Second Life as an education source.  Perhaps you might enjoy a bit on that.  A good video is posted as well.

Thanks for this Write-on - I have added a link to your Hub from mine.  You've got a comprehensive set of links to all kinds of on-line learning.  Excellent stuff.

I still have a few reservations about SL but I think Virtual Worlds have a big future in business, education and training - I'm going to a conference in London next week on e-learning and new training technologies so it will interesting to see what comes out of that.

If you are interested in Second Life and Education - I've just published a new Hub on the subject.  I'm working my way (in terms of Hub writing) through all the aspects on Second Life including business, social networking, shopping, leisure, crime and finally sex ( not that I have any personal experience of sex in Second Life!).smile
