[Vote] Why do we discuss religions?

   to..
   1-search for the truth.
   2- check up my understanding.
   3- defend my attitudes.
   4-attack others.
   5-convert people to what I believe.
   6-know how people think.
   7-other reasons.(name it)

      1. There is no truth
      2. Full understanding is not possible while incarnated
      3. There is no defence for any attitude
      4. Attack others? How bizarre. What a pointless thing to do.
      5. The belief in "conversion" and the power of any individual to "convert" another is pure hubris
      6. Knowing how people think is always interesting and often amusing
      7. Seems we have consensus that "for fun" should be an option
      8. As a form of spiritual practice

   I think all of the possibilities CAN apply at different times. That is how we learn what we really do think and feel, which enables us to change and to become a better person, as well as closer to our sense of God and being "right" with the Universe.

      I agree.
      
      it is very important to consider ourselves as imperfect.
      we have to doubt in our intentions all the time to get closer to perfection.
      
      it is not a probelm to discuss religions in the seek of fun.
      fun can accompany everything in life but it should be with respect to other views.
      
      I think it is not a crime trying to affect people if it was really for shemitic purposes.
      this could happen when we really look at ourselves as similar equal humans, with tinny differences, who are sharing this earth.
      we will have the same destiny at the end.
      in my opinion,we have to accept people ideas to let them accept ours.

            I accept the idea of discussing this matter but not as a reality.
            
            I accept that some people really believe in no creator idea and I have to understand their point of view bias without enforcing them to my believes.
            
            I may understand how evolution could happen but I may not agree it cold happen without a mind.
            
            some theists tried to build a common ground with evolutionist by accepting evolution possibilities.

            Not understanding here. How can you accept both of these statements:
            
            1, The world was created 6,000 years ago by an all powerful being and the dinosaurs were wiped out in noah's flood.

                 Because it doesn't make a difference whether or not someone believes what I believe that why.  But certainly I wouldn't want someone to not like me for me just because I believe there is only one God, that my God is only my God, and I don't dislike anyone for not believing in my God or God.  Plus, I love all the ideas like I love my own because it speaks volumes more than any book or phrase could say about a person or about life. 
               
               I believe everything!

                     I may not be happy about it, but being my kids momma, I will certainly educate her better than any other about the treasures of humanity, free thought, non conformity, and the hidden jewels of religions, and how I feel about God.  My kid is very intellegent already, I don't worry about those things, she can believe anything she wants to.

                     the world wa created in 6 days but not like our days because there was no earth then to make days.
                     there is no prooves that the earth was made 6,000 years ago but fossils let us know that the earth was created beforethis.
                     also, the were no dinosaurs during Noah's life as I think.

               we don't know yet if any of these statements is right.
               so you have to think of all posiibilities and get youself a position.
               that's mean , be biased as mush as you can but with having a reasonable position.

   because I think it is sooooo important to understand the roots of society. 
   because understanding another persons beliefs shows me the beauty they possess.
   and because, well, it's always the most intersting. 
   
     of course many other reasons, but mostly these ones.

   2. No. I have a good understanding of what most people think
   3. Maybe. But only in certain circumstances.
   4. Usually in the form of a rebuttal.
   5. No. Waste of time. Most people have already decided and are not open to that (see OP)
   6. No. There only seem to be about 4 options, and I have heard them all.
   7. To sell ebooks. (see 3rd worst poet in the universe)
   7. For fun also. If you are enlightened (as I am) it is actually funny when you listen to many people's versions of the truth

   I don't really discuss religion, just observe, but I do discuss spirituality. I would go with # 6: know how people think. The choice of religion pretty much let's me know where they are with their concept of God; its very interesting!
