Shame on you -- us Westerners, including people in the Third World who are middle-class, are the most fortunate people ever to have walked this planet bar none.

"We" are not in it. "We" are in a paradise that any king of old would have salivated over.

Now, if you are referring to the other four billion people on the planet, then, yes, "they" are in it.

Unable to feed their kids, no sewers so you have to throw a plastic bag in the street every time you defecate, no drinking water, so your child has a high chance of dying from diarrhea, and so on, and so on.

I think we are in hell. Think about it, there is so much injustice and pain in the world. Children, animals and people in general being abused, tortured and killed. People using others for their own greedy needs. People starving while the rich throw food away. What can we do about all these atrocities? Not much. I can help feed the homeless, I can call 911 about an abused person, but it won't end it. No matter how hard we try we can't get rid of these horrible things going on around us, and that my friends, is what I consider 'HELL'.

Ah yes, it is nice to read some common sense on this topic of hell. You have hit the nail on the head; if Jesus ever "comes back" he's going to point and say "Look at the mess you've made" and we'll all be in the soup.. and I suspect he won't care too much what religion or book we believed in , in these disastrous circumstances our world faces. (Of course, we in the West live in the closest thing to Paradise there has ever been, on the other hand)

hell is real but not in the sense everbody thinks. This is a very good question. There is plenty of scripture that talks about hell.....and it all comes down to one thing, that hell is not eternal torment but rather an eternal death.

  10. chambersgirl21 profile image61
    chambersgirl21posted 14 years ago

"The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished." 2 Peter 2:9.

everyone that has ever died is in neither hell or heaven. They are asleep, waiting for the day of judgement.

  11. chambersgirl21 profile image61
    chambersgirl21posted 14 years ago

"The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23. "Sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." James 1:15. "God ... gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.

The consequences for sin is death not an everlasting life of torment.
