I was going to try your recipe this weekend, but my wife popped across the border while I was at work yesterday, and had a few boxes of butter tarts here when I got home! She is definitely a keeper!

Being only half Canadian, I guess I only get half of a day. But I finally got some butter tarts! Sorry UW. I forgot you didn't like them.

My Dad too is a Canadian so if I had of known I would have declared a day off for me in Australia.

Happy day to you Canadians. Gee, did you get a public holiday for that?

Oh yes, we certainly do!  Fireworks, the whole bit.  Much like the U.S. fourth of July festivities.

    HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYBODY!

Bit of trivial history:  it used to be called Dominion Day in honour of when we received dominion over our country from Britain.  We called it Dominion Day when I was a kid.

RMR, I can't wish you half a Happy Canada Day, so I'm wishing you a whole one with a butter tart on top.

Well, I had yummy yogurt and I'm drinking a cooler. I'm just wild aren't I?

Hopefully, I can see some fireworks from my apartment. I've been listing to bangs for the past 4 nights but not seeing anything.

I'm going to have a beer after I finish my bagel.  Then I'm going to write 6 articles for a client.

Susan, we both celebrate the same way.

Last year on this day, my sister and I were in Arizona.  We took Canadian flags and hung them over our pool chairs.  Nobody seemed to notice.

Wow, 6 articles. And I'm worn out researching 3 and writing one smile

Yeah, well don't get too excited, I only managed to get one done and with a lot of grumbling from me the whole time.  Finally finished it this evening and it turned out pretty good, but I'm disgusted about only one out of the way.  It's a lot faster with more research details available.

I had company all day! To my utter disgust, we've started testing the punch at 10:30 this morning, and finally had it perfected about 10:30 tonight. A friend son brought forworks over, and made a lot of noise. So I'm giggly, everythings funny. I'm staying up for another 20 minutes then Canada day's over, then I'm going to grab a couple of Advil and I'm going to bed. Needless to say I didn't get any writing done. Goodnight Gang.zs

I'm half Canadian.  Perhaps more than half, since my mum's Canadian (still a citizen, though she lives & works here on a green card), and my dad's American but grew up there.

I should have taken half a day off, but there's just too much to do around here!

I declare a special holiday, how about July 15th as a special day for all the half Canadians.
Full Canadians and full Americans can only have half a day...then

RMR told me he saw them running wild, all over the place. I didn't see 'em though. I think he was just trying to get me out of the house, for a while. When I got back, I could smell them in the house. I haven't found them yet, though.

I was sitting with my quivering mess of a dog last night listening to the fireworks. She's not a fan of loud noises! smile

What a great Canada Day it was. We finally have summer weather here on the west coast and I'm so happy to see the sun. Yay!

    big_smile
