Can't say I'm famiar with either of those two.

He's not american, but Peter Sellers (Pink Panther)is the funniest actor I've ever seen. Even when he does a scene in a movie where you KNOW what he's going to do you still have to laugh at it.

Lucille Ball.  No matter what she played in, she could always pull it off.

      Scrat? haha what?

Jim Carrey is an amazing actor. he's a comedic genius, but even in his dramatic roles, he's been great. Unfortunately most of those movies suck. (But not all)

While not a comedic actor I always see a George Clooney film where he does a little lampooning of himself.

Charlie Chaplin is definitely my top choice for the best of all time.

Leslie Neilsen is up there, because he's hilarious when he tries not to be.

In terms of modern comedic actors, I think it comes down to two, primarily:

    1) Sacha Baron Cohen, for his commendable comedic method acting; and
    2) Jim Carrey, for being (as far as I can tell) the last great physical comic.

Cary Grant. He had impeccable timing and the ability to play the moment large or small. Remarkable actor in any genre, but his early turns in His Girl Friday, Arsenic and Old Lace, Bringing Up Baby, and Philadelphia Story are classics.
