We are having prime rib, asparagus sauteed in olive oil and garlic, both red and sweet potatoes, and some type of bread yet to be determined. Also, a cranberry/raspberry/nut dessert, the name of which I can't remember.

Hot here too...the whole town is getting together for a BBQ with salads. There will be traditional plum pudding (cold of course), custard and trifle.  Lots of cheeses and bikkies to go with lots of beer.  The town's population is 6!!

On the day we call Christmas, I will be out celebrating at my favorite Chinese restaurant with my husband and children.

Our big night is Christmas Eve - we do the traditional Italian "seven fishes" dinner with the entire family and open our presents then.

Then we have our own little celebration Xmas day smile

Roasted tomato soup, Chicken Kiev, pumpkin risotto, roasted brussels sprouts with garlic, homemade French bread. Dessert -- Crepes Suzette. I've never made any of those things before, and have always wanted to, so my family has agreed to allow me to experiment on them. A few bottles of champagne will probably help them forgive me if I make any mistakes.

In our case, we've got a couple of New York Strip steaks in the fridge...if I can get around to lugging the generator the 1/4 mile to the well to pump the 500 gallon storage tank full so we can wash the skillet....lol

We usually have ham, potato salad, fruit salad and lots of snacks and desserts. Unless we go out which is usually to an all-you-can-eat buffet which are usually closed until later.

I think I'll cook a standing rib roast for me and the old man. Our family party is Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, the kids and grands go to their other families', so it's just me and hubby on the big day.
