Have you guys heard any of these stories about growing meat in laboratories? I have heard a few recently and the one the sticks out is the engineered pork. It does have the genetics of a pig but not from a dead pig. I wonder a few things about this, is this artificial pork like bacon kosher? Would a vegetarian eat artificial meat? What do you guys think?
i don't think a vegetarian would consume genetically engineered meat, because it is created by injecting genes from one living animal into the DNA of another. (i think)
From the reports I have seen it sounds like they take the DNA from say a pig but not to put into some other animal but to inject in laboratory grown cells. The idea being that no animal need be killed to provide the food. With something like beef it would reduce the need for cows which are thought to be major contributers to green house gasses. The DNA would create the flavor and texture of the meat of that animal.
ugh.....it sounds gross, no matter who you are
First they feed us clones now we are supposed to eat laboratory meat. I will stick to my rice and beans.
Interesting story. I know there is a product on the market that has the consistency of meat and it meant to be a substitute. I don't know what it's called. It's organic. I tried it once several years ago from a lady who was really gung ho on not consuming meat.
Do some investigating and make a hub of it. I'll read it!
if there is any doubt about monsanto's role in this, well:

I heard it on the news recently. What on earth are they thinking of. Don't they realize that they are messing with nature. In years to come, it will come back and bite them....haha, no pun intended.
It doesn't make any sense when there are mushrooms and beans. If people just didn't overconsume, meat wouldn't be such a big ethical issue anyway except to those who avoid meat for spiritual reasons. The economy is forcing people to watch their consumption anyway because meat is expensive.
I think more people are coming around to the idea that you can get more protein from a live animal than a dead one.
Hmmmmm, sorry, I thought from the title of this thread it was about sex dolls,,, carry on,,,,,
hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!
I think artificial meat would be great! I love meat, but I hate that animals have to die and go through the grisly ordeal of the typical slaughterhouse. Wow - next thing you know, they'll come up with some kind of artificial fur so that animals won't have to endure steel leg-hold traps in order to provide humans with warmth! Oh, wait...
I know this is a bit of a late reaction, but jeez bill. You need to cut yourself a break, you have been working too much!
This sounds kinda Yuk, but then again I don't eat meat anyway.
I saw an actual artificial egg made out of chemicals by the Chinese - its in a hub but I forget the name of it - and so anything is possible - they will probably make it look like the real thing and we won't even know. I got some raspberries a few weeks ago that are very suspicious - they haven't gone moldy yet and I forgot them in the fridg - long ago. Found them today and they look a little dry, but otherwise good. How is that possible? radiation? maybe they're artificial! Oh no! What will artificial stuff DO to our bodies?

I am a vegetarian because I do not want to live on killings of animals. What about you? If you are, what are the reasons behind your being a vegetarian? And if you are not, what do you think about vegetarian people?

There is nothing more annoying than encountering a pushy, preaching vegetarian sort who criticizes me for being human. I love meat and I won't tolerate people telling me what I can and can't eat. I don't mind a person eating leaves for dinner, but since it's against the natural order of things,...

Why do some vegetarians eat fish and eggs? I am a meat eater but have always curious about this. Wouldn't fish and other types of seafood be a meat? Wouldn't eggs be considered as an unborn chicken? I even know some people who claim to be vegetarians and eat chicken.

I believe yes, because killing is itself a violent act and if it is involved in the process of making food, it will definitely makes them more violent.
