I have my own site, but it's quite complicated to confirm my website with eBay when they ask me to upload the .txt file onto my Base Directory of my blog.
The question is what is Base Directory?
I did some research and download a specific software but failed to do so because the instruction of how to using this software is not clear.

Same as Google Ad, when I want to add my own blog (not HubPages) to Ad, I was asked "Paste the ad code between the body tags of your HTML. "
This question is what does "between the body tags" mean? Do I need to use software to upload it? I tried to just copy paste the code to the new post, obviously, it doesn't work.

Too complicated to beginners, dunno how to do it. Anybody can help? Thanks!

With the google I can help if you are using a blogger/blogspot blog. If you're talking about adding the analytics tracking code to a blog it's very simple. Go to the editing area of your your blog, where you can change the layout, settings etc. Click on the "edit html" tab. Copy and paste the html code that google gave you and put it above the "head" section which is basically right at the top of the page. I think you can add the analytics code pretty much anywhere, the following link says put it at the bottom but mines at the top and works fine.

Wordpress blogs must have the same feature to enable you to edit the html? If so just do the same as above. A google search for "add analytics to wordpress" will yeild results I'm sure.

As far as adding the ebay txt file to a blog I don't know. I don't think they accept blogs in the network anyhow, but I may be mistaken on that.

for ebay, you would ftp a .txt file with their unique code to your domains base directory (not the index page, like the analytics instructions, which are correct above)

so you would have a page on your site

    www.sifan.com/5646857865757ebaygarblehk89098.txt

which their little spider can find

software that is needed is a ftp client, which is needed for any self hosted site

are you self hosted? as this may be a moot point

as for 'ad?" , do u mean adsense?

Thanks Susana and Sunforged! It's very helpful, I think I need to learn more on these things.

Ye Sunforged, when I say Ad, that means Google Adsense.

Thanks Sunforged. I just started posting on this blog because the new rules of eBay. See my blog link below:
          http://sifan.blog.com/

I clicked "help" on my blog, it shows Wordpress forum, so I assume it's wordpress.
My blog is on "blog.com', I don't have my own hosting.
I know very little about html. I did very basic things on it long time ago. I tried to add this blog to my google ad account, same as ebay but can't figure out what I should do with its instruction. dunno how to insert adsense ad block yet.

          Thanks!!!

    the penguin pictures are awesome!

eBay requires you to have full control of your site, I believe hubpages is the only exception and we are grandfathered in. Squidoo doesnt count as you do not use your own account on that platform.

Ill look into blog.com to see if their is some kind of exception or way of doing the necessary .txt upload, but at this time I would have to say sorry but ebay will not be possible.

wordpress should allow you to use adsense though.

I opened my own blog.com account , usually you would use the "widget" option under "appearance" and insert the html code there. But since adsense is a 'script" and blog.com disallows scripts you cannot use adsense their either.

I suggest going to "tools" and "export"...export al;l your content and than start a wordpres site that you pay for or a blogspot account using the content you exported.

      Thanks for your great help!!!

Penguins and Polar Bear are so cute, I wish Global Warming would stop for them.

Is Squidoo the same as HubPages? The new member cannot promote for eBay there, right? It seems like there is no way to promote eBay links, right? If I join Squidoo, would that be possible?

I just applied blogspot.com on blogger, as it's google's service, it's so handy. I was just asked if I use my current Adsense account when I registered. Is that all? I didn't receive any confirmation for that. The thing is when I entered my Adsense report, I can't see a separate item for blogger on the list. How do I manage to see which earning is from HubPages, Which is from blogspot.com?

I wish you all the best in 2010!

You need to create url channels in your adsense account. This hub explains how to do it:
