Clarification needed about Google ads revenue sharing

   Hi,
   
   I am new to Hubpages. Just 4 hubs old.
   
   The following terms I read in FAQ about Google ads revenue sharing:
   
   Quote:
   After you’ve joined the affiliate programs from eBay, Amazon and Google, ads for these three companies (and we’re looking to add more) appear on your Hubs. Any revenue generated during one of your impressions (a click-through with Google, an actual purchase with Amazon or eBay) is 100% yours.
   
   HubPages splits the impressions with you in the following way:
   
      1. Your own Hubs: Hubbers receive 60% of total impressions.
      2. ......
   Unquote.
   
   (a) Does this mean that if somebody visits my Hub and clicks a Google ad, I get 100% of the ad revenue of that ad?
   
   (b) Does it also mean that even if no body clicks the ads, Hubpages will share the revenue they get just for displaying the ads (not counting clicks) to the extent of 60% with the Hubber?
   
   If my both interpretations are correct, when do I get the share of (b) credited to my Google account? Once in every month? Or on day to day basis?
   
   After joining, I have not seen any penny added to my google account. Could someone clarify please?

      60% of the time your AdSense ad will run on your hubs.  40% of the time the HubPages' ad will run.  If someone clicks when your ad is running you get 100% of the revenue, if someone clicks when HubPages' ad is running you get 0% of the revenue.
      
      
      
      No.  In general with AdSense there is no revenue if nobody clicks.  However, if Google does run ads that pay without being clicked (often called CPM ads), the revenue will be credited directly to your AdSense account from your 60% share of impressions.
      
      
      
      Looking at your account, your hubs haven't generated very many page views yet.  Typically you can expect to make between $2 and $5 for every 1000 page views your hubs generate, but it may be slower in the early going.  You should see some ad impressions in your AdSense reports though, even if you haven't made any money yet.  That's how you'll know things are working.  (If you are using AdSense at sites other than HubPages, you might want to set up a URL channel, to track HubPages data separately)

   But don't you think that the words that I have quoted from your FAQ pages is quite misleading? What is written there and what you have clarified seem to be somewhat different to me!
   
   The next question. Which part of the 24 hrs time do ads run on my Account? Is it rotated so that there is a fair period of exposure to traffic for both the parties?
   
   I have set up already separate URL account for Hubpages. It does show page impressions from HP separately. But so far no clicks at all! That's really surprising! It is not so with my other account when I started off with them. I was getting 1 or 2 clicks and some 0.02 once is 2-4 days during initial few days!

      No, I don't think it's misleading, but if you would like to suggest a way we could make it more clear we'll consider updating the FAQ.
      
      The share is selected at random with each pageview, so our ads and your ads should be more or less equally distributed throughout the day, week, year, etc.  I say more or less only because the distribution will be subject to randomness.  I explained this a little more thoroughly a while back, and provided an easy way for someone with moderate unix skills to test it, which Inspirepub did.

   I think your wording in this post as a clarification to my query itself could be used to rewrite the FAQ and I do believe there is a bit of confusion in the original wordings there.
   
   The following  is my suggestion for rewording the FAQ pages about Adsense ads (taken mostly from your reply):
   
   "60% of the time your AdSense ad will run on your hubs and 40% of the time, the HubPages' Adsense ads will run. This actually takes place at random during the day. If someone clicks when your ad is running, you get 100% of the revenue; if someone clicks when HubPages ad is running, that share entirely goes to Hubpages and you get 0% of the revenue.
   
   To clarify further, on any day, 60% of the time, your ads will be running and any revenue generated by ad-clicks during this period is entirely yours.
   
   You may also note that, in general with AdSense, there is no revenue if nobody clicks.  However, if Google does run ads that pay without being clicked (often called CPM ads), the revenue will be credited directly to your AdSense account from your 60% share of impressions."

   I don't think the fact that you haven't earned anything yet is that unusual. You need to write more. The more you write the more traffic you will get to all of your articles. This will increase page impressions and clicks. It is also a good idea to advertise your writing outside of Hubpages so people looking for information find it. They are more likely to click on Google Adsense ads then other Hubpage writers who are just learning and checking out what else is out there.

   Your proposed rewrite is actually more complex than the FAQ explanation:
   
   
   
   See?  The FAQ breaks it down very easily, explaining that YOU, on your own Hubs, receive 60% of total impressions.
   
   Further, it tells you that anything you generate, any revenue that comes in on one of your impressions is absolutely yours. 
   
   I'm sorry you felt it was unclear, but the majority of people understand it, and you can't expect Hubpages to rewrite everything every time someone misunderstands.

   By the way, as I checked my google account today, I see some clicking has taken place and some 0.33 dollars added on account of HP to my kitty! That settles it!
