I've been here for a few weeks now & I've noticed my hubscore has been hovering around 90 or so the entire time. I'm technologically savvy in the sense that I'm a BBS baby, but the whole forums thing kind of throws me for a loop... (Yeah, I know they originated from the BBS's, I didn't get them then & I don't get them now!) This isn't a plea for people to read my articles, I'm just wondering if I "get it." Do I get it? I've been putting the time in here that I would be putting in playing WOW because I enjoy being here. I feel more productive here & it's easier to look for a job while "hubbing" than playing WOW. I've been totally into the whole productivity thing lately... (Being told you're going to be evicted if you don't get the rent in soon will help that, I've noticed.) I know this isn't going to make me money, (not in the "gettin' my rent paid sense, at least,) but I haven't made anything yet, is that normal? I'm not focused on "making money," I'm focused on finding a job. (Thanks Patty for all the informative job articles, by the by.) I really like this place as a community, I've met & read a lot of interesting things here. Thanks, guys!

Hang in for awhile longer; you will find out if you need or want to be here. Your last comment seems to indicate it might be worth a try.
Most people find that the old boring strategies of patience and perserverence make things grow.
Good luck in your job search. :-)
Thanks, Rochelle! I'm just surprised that everyone else has so many comments on their work.... I've only gotten one since I've joined so I think I must be doing something wrong?
"Everyone" doesn't, Nicole. You notice the ones who have a lot. Hang in-- as long as you feel it is worth it for you. Don't make it goal that outpaces other imprtant things inyour life, but if you make occasional posts, and comment on others, you will find more comments on yours.
I used to get very few comments - now I have more fans a huge number more comments - I guess because more people get notified when I publish a new hubs: some topics will always get more comments than others too
<blush> I just realized I totally sound like a whiny junior high school kid, "Why am I not popuuuuuular?!?" Thanks, all for your comments, I really appreciate it. I haven't really written in a public forum since high school, so I guess I'm feeling a little insecure about it.

You need to give your hubs time to start bringing in traffic, you have only been here 3 weeks. I don't think anyone else made any money worth mentioning in their first 3 weeks here, either, so don't worry.
One suggestion I would make is with your hub titles -- clever titles are cute, but they don't bring much traffic in, usually. You want to title your hub the way someone would search for the content. For example, your latest recipe -- if *you* wanted to google a shortening bread recipe, how would *you* search for it?
I'd probably type something like "good shortening bread recipe" into Google, and I'd imagine other people would too, or something along those lines. I'm not saying you need to change it, and I'm certainly not telling you what to change it to, if you do, but you may want to consider something closer to what people are likely to search for. You can change your title whenever you want, though it's best not to do that too often.
Good luck!

Nicole responded: Isabella - Isn't that what the tags are for? I was looking at other people's tags recently, I think that may be part of the issue, they've *lot's* of tags. Is the title more important than the tags in your opinion? I thought, (since I do actually have experience in journalism / writing for newspapers,) that the title was more of an "eye-catcher," and the tags were what brought in the traffic. Maybe I got it wrong Thanks for your comments, Isabella, I really appreciate your opinions!

Tags can help, but the title is the single most important thing.
Thanks, Paul, Isabella, I'll keep this in mind for the next article I publish. I appreciate ya'all's help & comments, thank-you so much. Like I said, I'm not in this for the money. I'm more interested in the community aspect & I <love> having so many useful & wonderful articles to read on a daily basis when I'm not looking for a job. (I've had a little more free time lately since I won't be able to take in any interviews until after this Monday.) We're going camping this weekend, (yea!,) so this will give me something to think about & camping will give me some time to decompress & hopefully enjoy the family scene without worrying incessantly about work stuff. I like rolling article ideas around in the back of my head for at least a couple days. Thanks to everyone recently who has showed their support.

I'm relatively new to this site.I know most sites of its type do their best to be "Google friendly" which translates into "family friendly" (a phrase I hate, by the way). Over the years when tempted to use profanity either in a title or in the body of an article (and I can...

Hey everyone! I was wondering how all of you newer hubbers are doing! Finding success? Learning the ropes? I wasn't really active until June or so myself; and have since put quite a few up. I'm up to 31 hubs currently, and I think I've done well! I'm clocking over $10 so far this month! This is...

I have had a Hub snipped according to my email, hub staff have improved it, images, low quality this and that. Trouble is they have taken every single photo out! its just a page of writing and looks really dull! The question is, am I supposed to add some more photos or is that it? thanks

For a long time it has puzzled me how one of my hubs keeps doing great, when it shouldn't. You see, I started a hub on one topic and then changed my mind in the middle of it.Now, back then I had no idea you couldn't change the URL later, so I was horrified when I was stuck with a URL that couldn't...

Is it only me, or are there others who think that it should be a common courtesy to reply to comments made to a hub. I always reply to comments made by my followers and others, and people who I follow do the same. I have noticed however, that some hubbers have comments left on their page, and they...

Just what it says on the title thread really - I've been using it for a couple of days and just really not getting it. I've watched the videos but I still need some help with getting started on a keyword at the beginning.Anyway I'll wait for a volunteer and then try and explain myself a bit better
