Watched Earth 2100 last night on the History Channel. What can each of us do to reduce our energy usage?

My tip: Go in instead of sitting at a drive through. Would save Millions of gallons of gas a day.

unplug your charging when you are not charging something.  Energy is still entering the charger even though it is not in use.

We humans have a habit of not organizing and It will be the death of us yet. For example, if the forays outside the house are all done on the same outing, a lot of gas, effort and time might be saved. But that might require some effort to decide why we want to go out in the first place. And getting exercise by walking rather than driving to the gym might help. And rather than fighting to get the parking place just outside the supermarket door, parking as far away as possible just might save exercise routines and gas at the same time.
If we don't organize and plan for disaster, man made or natural it wont matter anyway.

We can conserve energy by maximizing the use of our natural energy source, (e.g. sun, water, and wind). The sun is the number one source we can tap especially for vehicles. In the Philippines school student scientists invented a solar operated vehicle where the source of power comes from the sun.

Let's maximize the hydro electric power by introducing to all countries where water in abundant, especially the sea water.

The wind is abundant anywhere, why not utilize its presence to full use by introducing to all countries especially in rural areas in depressed and developing countries.

Instead of proliferation in modern warfare, spending billions of dollars producing weapons to kill people, developed countries should contribute their wealth to poor countries and help promote the above mentioned energy sources to uplift the lives of these poor countries.

And what do people buy at the drive through restaurant?  It takes an unbelievable amount of energy to produce beef.

What people can do is "think" about their behaviors and what they are willing to change, then change them.

Unplug (or turn off) appliances when we're not using them. Each one of us has a few (some of us a LOT) of these little things sitting around using power all day when we're gone. If we get in the habit of keeping that in our awareness everyday, we can cut down our personal energy use significantly. (Oh, and turn down the thermostat before you leave.)

Pee in to a cup instead of walking to the toilet, leaving the TV on so you don't need to pick up the remote every time you want to watch TV, an leave your radiators on full so you dont have to do any of that tiring shivering tongue

turn off lights on daytime when the sun is helping to give light. use a dimmer (adjustable) light. use recyclables. use green (environmentally friendly ) products. use the extra heat from your stove or oven (turn it of before the food is cooked). conserve energy by conserving water usage. don't watch tv too much.
