This is a plea for help from anyone who uses CJ on Hubpages. How do you get a simple text link?

There are html links and java script links on offer but neither of these are any good on Hubpages. Do you just take the target address out of the html code?

I don't want to spend time writing some hubs and then finding the links are sending traffic but I am getting no return.

I think you can paste HTML on a test html page, click on the link and take the URL in destination page? I never had to do this but this should work. Make sure you test it and impression is logged in CJ.

Yes, when you find the link you want click on the "get HTML" tab when it comes up just copy the part of the html that contains the url to the offer and also your affiliate code. It's also a good idea to encrypt your code first and then grab it.  Now when you write something on HP just make your own text and link that html to it.  In essence, you are creating your own text link.

You can only use the part of the url that starts with http://, make sure to erase this if it comes with the add link icon in hubpages.

Most of CJ options have "link only" if you can't find it you can extract it from a banner link, but it might show as invalid when you sign in to CJ. Any of the banner code will have the image code which hubs will not accept.

Hubpages is NOT built for CJ Links.

You can take the link as you have figured out, but it will not track.  The best thing to do is test it.

Clear your cookies, click on the link yourself after your test hub is completed.

Now check the cookies in your browswer, if you see a cookie set then you are fine... except for the affiliate program managers who prohibit this because they want the traffic data.

I would use hub pages to refer back to a page that would have the CJ links, that way you can track them properly

Yes, just take the target URL out of the HTML code. The entire code is the target URL and the location where the image of the banner is stored.

Hubpages editor has an HTML button on the text editor. I can copy and paste the entire code, but for some reason it doesn't save well.

You're better off just using the target link.

That button is for use by people who want to show actual code in the text - for instance, if you're demonstrating how to code a web page.
