   Can someone explain without hysteria what the real ramifications of this are? I read the order and the explanation posted at whitehouse.gov http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-off … -governors
   
   There is no mention of martial law.  I question the need for this "council of governors", but the bottom of the White House link mentions this:
   
   "The formation of the Council of Governors was required by the Fiscal Year 2008 National Defense Authorization Act which stated, “The President shall establish a bipartisan Council of Governors to advise the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the White House Homeland Security Council on matters related to the National Guard and civil support missions.”"
   
   I don't have the time to research the National Defense Authorization Act right now, but was this enacted during Bush's term?  Does anyone think this makes martial law more likely?  Just asking an honest question here.

    what the op is concerned about is the 10 fema districts that correspond with the 10 governors to be appointed. this worries some people because there are supposed fema camps all over the country as per Rex 84 (i believe) and i don't doubt that these compounds exist, employ foreign troops and have capabilities beyond what the average american can comprehend. people forget easily that america profiled and interned masses of AMERICAN CITIZENS during WWII.
    i'm not saying this signals martial law is around the corner.
    but it is troubling.

    why would he sign this ex. order??
    
    i understand most think its nothing, but can anyone say what reason he had for signing this??

    he got the idea from serving in the Israeli civil defense corps in Israel when he was young... sounds like a spy on the inside of govermnet to me changing our constitutional rights to choose service or not ,albeit ONLY 3 months mandatory - been implementing for a year now and is about ready to be put on the table for vote in the capitol

    bring back the old CHAIN-GANGS and make them do civil service instead of forcing on "young" people who havn't done anything wrong... wonder if you'll get paid a small wage or is this free with barracks and food rations while serving. Sounds like a runup to a new infinite "DRAFT" to fight the infinite" WAR ON TERROR
    
    like the Israelis and Arabs have an infinite duel. Middle East defense strategies won't work in America.. guns will be drawn and chaos will ensue if this is thrown on the table soon.

       mel- you got that right. I'm not going to risk my life trying to kill innocent wives and children because of my own government's mistake. I will avoid the draft to the best of my abilities whether it be with weapons or peaceful actions. No Human Being has the right to FORCE another Human Being to do something against their own intentions. Anarchy will rise. Revolution here we come!!!
