   I get on hubpages..And my "follower" list keeps getting smaller. I don't know what I did wrong?

      most likely, some people that have more then one account, decided to be one person. You should not assume you did something wrong, because someone  chooses to leave hubpages. Im sure your fine.  Besides, fans have nothing to do with how good your writing is, or how much money you earn. (if thats why your here)

      I think some people are just leaving for whatever reason.  I had one fan/follower request a hub from me and by the time I got it finished and started to e-mail her; she was gone...Go figure!

   I have no idea but if you interact with them in forums, leave genuine comments on THEIR hubs, that may help retention? just some thoughts.

   I just got the 'You Now Have 100 Followers' notice and not even a minute later- i have 99???
   I figured I just irritated someone-and when they realized they were one of my fans, decided they didnt really like me

   Try to not concentrate on followers/fans. It will only frustrate you more than you need.
   
   Work on hubs, interact more in the community and honestly read other people's hubs, as well, as leaving meaningful comments. If you cannot add value, because others before you have covered every aspect to add value. Then simply rate up the Hub, if you liked enough to do so.
   
   I at times will email others that I enjoyed their Hub, but couldn't add value by leaving a comment, so I let them know I enjoyed it and rated it up.
   
   It's just a simple kind gesture and can help to get you noticed.
