Serious Problem with Amazon Capsules (and a suggestion)

    Hi,

I have noticed that Amazon capsules with direct product ASIN codes return "No Amazon results found" message if the product becomes temporarily unavailable, not in stock or redirected to other page on a later time on Amazon side.

I have found many such capsules lately & had to convert them into general keyword based Amazon capsules.

I guess, especially, active hubbers more than 500 product hubs would be badly affected.

    Suggestions for Hubpages software developers:

Alternative #1: Amazon capsule still should show the product with link. (even not available on Amazon). Because many Amazon customers buy other items when they reach to Amazon.

#2: Another alternative is to show an Amazon Omakase widgetbox (products are shown related to page content automatically) if Hubpages Amazon API on the capsule returns no product back.

    Thanks

    Murat

One of my hubs has the capsules, but isn't showing ads. I went to replace the ads, but then decided to check some of the old ASIN numbers, and the numbers are still good.

Sometimes the products will no longer be sold by amazon, but these were all still fine..

Oh and the capsule that I did replace the ads on, it still didn't pull up the products.

4 of the 5 amazon capsules aren't working on that hub.

This is a problem a few of us are having today - I haven't got the answer, but I will try and find out what's happening tomorrow unless someone gets there before me smile

If Amazon is having a technical problem with their feed, it can result in empty capsules on our end, but the products still being good on their site.

There's really no way to quickly find out if this is the case, and it's something that only Amazon can fix.

I suspect it's not simply due to Amazon's feed.  Well, I'm not sure, but I'm having this problem in a serious way in at least 7 of my hubs.

And the weird thing is, sometimes I can just go into a capsule and switch it from choosing specific products to choosing general keywords, pick the keywords, and they show up.  Sometimes specific products continue to show up on certain hubs and there's no a problem.  Sometimes removing one specific result that is outdated makes the whole rest of the list appear (when they were all showing No Results before).

Other times this is happening with general keyword results, and the way to get results is to ADD (yes, actually add) a word, or subtract a word, or change the category to be more or less limiting.

There seems to be no consistency, except that the module just seems to want to be refreshed with new data (any new data) in order to work somehow.

Fiction teller is right. Another typical situation is like the following.

For example, let's say I have a common keyword like "palm pre".
It doesn't show up even I refresh.

But, it refreshes when I change it to any other specific keyword such as "Palm Pre cases" etc.

I suspect there is a problem at hubpages module.

My amazon modules at the top of page do not respond to amazon only.
    A glitch someplace.

the problem is from hubpages not amazon.

Do you know this for sure? Has the hubpages team responded somewhere on this issue? If not I'll email them as my amazon products are still not showing on many of my hubs.

Since I'm new here, what I've done is to use the keyword approach and leave the product code to ALL and I'm getting a myriad of different products all centralizing around a main idea.

On some others, I use 3-4 keywords and perhaps choose books or jewelry or whatever. Point is, since I choose 8 items to display I'm getting all eight.

I appreciate that, but I like to choose my products carefully. There's obviously a problem somewhere. I rather resolve it than go change all my hubs to general keyword based products.

I noticed that on one of my hubs today also, not sure if theres much you can do about it though. I have left mine as it is hopefully it's just a glitch and will return.
