Who's at fault for the late night wars lately on tv?

   Okay folks, im sure most of you heard about what's going on at nbc regarding their late night line up.  who's to blame?  conan o'brien or jay leno?  your thoughts.

      i do agree with you there about how nbc is responsible for this mess.  however, i don't know if i agree on conan, as im on his side of this 100 percent.
      
      i mean think about it.  you've been busting your arse for years for a company, then when they finally promote you.  they decide to demote you just because the other guy wants his old job back.  wouldn't you be a bit ticked off too?  i know i would.  that's why im hoping conan sticks it to jay leno, whenever he gets his own show somewhere else.  that would be cool.
      
      plus, after all this, im NEVER going to watch jay leno again as he's clearly a giant baby to me now.

   NBC. They should have been smarter than this. They moved Leno into a primetime slot where he'd have to compete with all of the other network's top dramas. They moved Conan into the Tonight Show slot, which competes directly not only with Letterman, but also The Colbert Report. I think they overlooked the fact that Conan and Colbert have pretty much the same audience; they even did cross-promotional stuff on each other's shows during the writers strike. With a poor lead-in from Leno and losing some of his core viewers to Colbert, Conan was bound to fail.

      wow, that's probably the most articulate and intelligent answer i heard thus far on here.  no offense to anyone else, but i just never thought of it like that before until you mentioned it.  good call on this situation.

   Poor decision by NBC...all the way around...but I know Conan will still be a factor with late-night shows for as long a run as Carson...Didn't he get picked up by another network?
   
   Someone compared this network decision to when they changed the Ol' Coca Cola flavor to New Coke (Bombing-Big Time!) for no reason. All businesses need to change/and or improve to thrive...However:

   I agree with that the people behind NBC, the producers, and, the people that back them are to blame by what is going on there. To blame Jay or Conan is kind of pointless.
   
   However, I do think that moving the leno show back to it's regular timeslot isn't going to change anything. The only thing it might do is open that spot up for a new show, which I heard might to be another crime drama. ICK!
   
   The only winner in all this is Conan. He gets to leave a show that isn't doing very well, and walk away with 30 million dollars. If I were in that position, I would have said yes to 30 million too.

      actually it was 50 million dollars because of the penalty clause in the contract, where nbc would have to pay him that much if he wasn't going to be in that particular time slot.  however, kudos to everything else you just said.
