www.gather.com allows content for Mature Audiences.
When publishing your article the second step is to choose which of your subscribed groups it is published to and whether or not it has adult content. This is what it says:
There's tick boxes next to these...
I've found Gather very handy to publish mini-articles or press release style submissions for promoting my Squidoo lenses. But you can do whole articles there.
I wrote a lens on how to use Gather for promoting Squidoo: www.squidoo.com/gatherdotcom I've also used Gather to promote some of my hubs.
There is also a revenue component in Gather. Different again from how HubPages and Squidoo do it. It's called Gather Points. You redeem the points for gift vouchers. Unless you earn 3000 points whereby you can opt for a Paypal payout. 3,125 Points is worth US$50.
Not sure how the fast the points accummulate if all your stuff is adult related, but I've been happy with the way Google have indexed some of the stuff I've published that I've bothered to look up.
If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to mention it in this thread.
Hi darkside, Is it possible to use 'Gather' to promote our Hubs?
As far as I've been aware and experienced it's been fine to put outgoing links to all sorts of pages and sites.
In a very short blurb I've made mention of the TREAD Act
I've got a link from there to What is TPMS Technology.
I've just recently been involved with two rather big projects (one offline and another online) so I'm looking forward to publishing more original content at HubPages and using the excess material to publish short blurbs at Gather to cast the net a little further in the hope of catching both human and search engine attention.
The hub on TPMS is from a press release that the writer asked me to use online. They have since provided me with a TPMS for my car for free. So the stuff I had published was without having had experience.
With the unit installed and being there to witness and photograph it I've written another piece on it which I had published at Squidoo: http://www.squidoo.com/tpms
I'll probably write an actual review soon. I may publish that elsewhere again, with links back to HubPages and Squidoo. Or I may just publish it at HubPages because I've already got two up at Squidoo.
I've looked at other sites but I'm yet to find one that's as flexible and useful (and revenue generating) like Gather, Squidoo and HubPages.
Associated Content is an option, but they don't pay non-US residents. It's still a nice looking site though.
Gather is a little stricter than other places with submissions. You can put backlinks on your articles, however they shouldn't be blatant advertisements.
Thank you for the reply darkside. I just joined there, testing the waters now.
I did a piece on Gather for a vacation resort with an affiliate link at the end of it. They emailed me the next day asking me to take down the article. The article was original, though it may have come off as a bit preachy. That was when I first signed up with them.
I have written other pieces since with aff links at the end and haven't had any problem. So who knows if its consistent?
I guess you must have got an overjealous moderator/editor or whatever it is they call them.
I haven't put any affiliate links into my Gather articles. I have put in links to articles I've posted at Hubpages and Squidoo and have never had a problem.
I publish a lot of Squidoo tips over at Gather. That way I get exposure over there for Squidoo and I also have the benefit of the traffic from Squidoo Lensmasters trotting over to Gather to read what I've had to say.
Gather is different in the way a person can 'make money' in that the Gather Points are redeemable for gift vouchers.
My Gather name is createwithzel.gather.com. Feel free to connect to me. I just joined Squidoo under the name Enchantress. If there's a way to befriend me over there, feel free, because I don't know a soul over there yet.
I've put in a connection request over at Gather.
There's no friends/fans function at Squidoo, but you can see me here: http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/N376
I've got a lot of lenses written on How To Squidoo.
I'm currently writing a comparison of "Hubpages vs Squidoo".
But it's not about one being better than the other, it's about comparing things that are the same to understand the other better (eg: here they are "capsules" over at Squidoo they're called "modules").
I'm happy with both Squidoo and Hubpages. And I enjoy the differences. It allows a person to not have all their eggs in one basket.
Come on Glen, you are my fan and I am your fan there for quite some time already.
I just started a group for hubbers who gather and gatherers who hub.
Find it at hubpages.gather.com
The thing is with Gather that non-American's do not earn points towards gift cards.
But I guess it can be good exposure. I cancelled my account there though, I wasn't using it enough.
LOL yeah, I did not pay attention to the date of your post
Sure you were absolutely correct, at that time Squidoo did not have fans...

Janderson posted something really important yesterday which I think everybody here needs to read http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/132621#post2759379.If he is correct in his assumptions (which it appears he might be), it is time for all of us to start making copies of all of our hubs (if we are...

Any Alternative to Hub Pages ?

Are we allowed to republish our articles elsewhere and keep the original hubs here in the mean time?

Hi all. As indicated in last week’s press release, parts of The Arena Group have begun using AI to assist with content creation. Although several news articles have erroneously referenced the use of AI on PetHelpful and DenGarden, AI is not currently being used for staff content creation on any of...

The new layout explodes the prominence of the related hubs images down the right side of the page. This image appears before all the ads, apart from the Google adsense ad above the title. Related hubs get an absolutely free ride aboard all the articles that attract hits from search engines through...

It's been only six weeks since that fateful morning when I learned, before my morning coffee no less, that I'd be moving my lenses to HP. I seem none the worse for the event and am glad I made the move. You, fellow former-Squids and Hubbers? How have your thoughts changed or not since that...
