How do I De-Index from Google?

   Hello hubbers. I've used hubpages for random posts. Some of the are product reviews and some of them are self-help style hubs. I've recently started my own website and wish to use some of my hubs on my website. If I unpublish my hubs and copy them over to my website, will I get penalized by google for duplicate content? Do I have to tell Google to de-index the page first and the repost it on my new website? Because I don't have the tools on hubpages to edit robot.txt will unpublishing my hubs be enough? Also, how long will it take my hubs to be de-indexed from google? I want to move my articles ASAP.

      I would not recommend doing that. The search engine bot will come through and score your site. That's the first thing it will do. If your site has suspicous content your site score will be extremely low and difficult to recover from.
      
      My suggestion is to give your site the best possible opportunity by having nice html coding, sound internal links, slow inbound link building, anchor text links to the deep pages of your site and solid content.
      
      Have some substantial content on your site and then every few weeks transfer a hub over in between your naturally occurring content. That is, make a few pages then insert a hubpages and keep doing this until your hubs have transferred across.
      
      That way you will keep a sound score, not be sandboxed, and a duplicate content penalty (also a myth) - read as low site score - will not be applied.

            Did you read the article?  95% of it talks about eliminating duplicate content within your own site, not across domains.

   You could probably get away with just unpublished and immediately copying over to your new site.
   
   Its not likely a brand new site created by someone without at least intermediate SEO knowledge will get indexed quickly enough to worry about (mythical) duplicate issues...as in by the time your new site is found, your old hubs would be off the radar
   
   BUt,It would be smarter to write some quick variations on your existing hubs for your new site and use your hubs as backlinks to your new site

      Sunforged is right, whether or not you think the "duplicate" problem is overstated.
      
      I also think you'd be smarter to use your Hubs to promote your blog - you're going to have to write some new promotional articles anyway, so why not write them on the blog?

      sunforged, Is there a way that hubpages would allow me to use rel=canonical to pass pagerank onto my new blog? I understand that by keeping the content, I can use it as leverage to backlink my new blog but i believe the content is too good and that is why I am moving it.
