Pre-Approval for Link on Hub

Earlier today, I published a hub that was supposedly against the terms of service regarding links in the hub.  I only had one or two links back to a very good website.  As far as I know and from what I read, I acted completely within the terms of service.  I don't remember if it was one or if it was two links but I know it was not more than two links.

What I would like to know is if someone from the HubPages staff can pre-approve my hub with the link(s) before I publish it.  Because I absolutely refuse to give away quality content for free.  I think that HubPages is already making out quite well and the bargain is definitely in their favor.  But I'm not going to pawn off a Rolex Watch for a Happy Meal at McDonald's either.  I think that it is fair to ask for a decent link in exchange for my content.  If they do not consider that to be a fair barter, then fine.

Also, I would like to say that if HubPages does not want to allow quality links back to your website, then I believe that they should explicitly say so.  Instead, HubPages tries to play coy and play on both sides of the fence by using words like "overly" promotional.  Well, instead of saying "overly" promotional, why don't they just not allow it period?  They should just disable html links out entirely if that is how they want to operate.  Hubpages needs to be more clear and concise what they mean by links in general.

I even read the hub by Maddie Ruud.  Even though in the comments sections members wrote "Great advice clearly explained", I could not disagree more.  In her article, the description on what constitutes "overly-promotional" couldn't be any more arbitrary and confusing.  Either that, or someone disabled my hub in error.

Now I do have a science degree, and that means I know how to work with numbers.  And so when someone says "More than 2 links to a single domain", by my arithmetic, that means 3 or more.  In that case, I have no idea why my hub was flagged.  And yes, the linking website was relevant and is an informational website that does currently does not sell anything or advertise anything at all.  So someone is going to have to explain to me how that constitutes "Spam".  And you should know that the linking website has become very popular with some people with a steadily growing fan base.

HubPages needs to come clean as to their policy on linking.  You either allow it or you don't.  It's that simple guys.  And in my humble opinion, the failure to clearly articulate these rules amounts to nothing short of fraud.

Well, actually, they do. You can't use html links in your Hub, they don't work.

There is a HTML capsule, but that is to display coding (for people who write about such matters).

The "overly promotional" rule is clear. Maddie's Hub explains it well and I'm surprised you can't make sense of it.

You can have two links to another website (plain text, not HTML), provided your Hub is original.  An RSS feed counts as more than one link.

If your text is duplicated from another site, you can't have links.

You can have two links to one domain, but if those are the only outgoing links on your Hub, you've just built a landing page and can get flagged as spam.

I explain how that works on this Hub under mistake #2,

    Hi there,

I'm sorry you found my explanation confusing.  I believe your hub was in violation due to a link and RSS feed pointing to the same site.  This is explained in the last sentence under "Promotional RSS feeds" in the hub I wrote on overly promotional flags, and also in the "learn more" section of the warning that was displayed on your violating hub (until you removed all content from it).  We do believe that a link or two back to your site is a fair exchange for original, unique content, but we have to protect ourselves from abuse--hence the limits on numbers of links.

In looking at your profile in order to answer this forum post, I also noted you had a hub on clitoral stimulators, which I was forced to remove as Adult Content.  HubPages does not allow the promotion of sex toys or aids.

If you have any further questions, please contact us and we'd be happy to clarify.

Uh, no the rule is not clear.  Either that or my hub was flagged incorrectly because I had only 1 or 2 links.  Either way, I need confirmation before I publish.

      This extract from Relache's
      http://hubpages.com/hub/10-Biggest-HubP … r-Mistakes

"Having more than two outgoing links to the same domain, or having a link or two and an RSS feed to the same domain will trip it, and you'll get an automated warning that only you will see at the top of your HubPage.  If you fix or otherwise adjust the links so that you don't have too many, that warning will go away."

      should make it clear.

It's not a good idea to get angry hbarca. We are all here to help eachother. I hope you still have the draft of your hub and can make a fresh start.

Hbarca, one of your links was an RSS feed.  That counts as more than one link. Read Maddie's email again.
