Whoa! I just got hacked into on hubpages.

   I was in edit mode and all of a sudden my computer is telling me that a Trojan virus is attacking.  What the hell man?   Someone please tell me what's going on.  Trojan Horse Dropper Agent. JOC

      That means your antivirus is doing exactly what it's supposed to do.  I use AntiVir Free and find it's much better than AVG.

   OMG you poor thing.  I wish I could help but sorry I can't.  You'll have to wait for the experts.  Eat some of your big and soft nutter butter cookies while you wait.  I'm getting out of here before I catch the trojan virus.

      Hard to say anything when you are not online, there is more to life than hupbages and the internet. The day is beautiful, hot and sunny and rare, i just came in to do a bit, then back to he garden.
      
      The free AVG program is good, I have used it for some years. I am using one that is available from my internet provider, Aliant, which is better but costs a few bucks per month.]

   Sometimes hackers will attack computers with trojans and viruses. It most likely didn't come from HubPages. Your firewall should have blocked it, but maybe you should update your virus program and run a full scan as mentioned by Compu-smart above.

   Thanks.  I definitely did what you say and removed it.  I have free AVG virus protection.  Is this okay? I was told it was the better than the ones you have to pay for.

    Sorry to hear your computer was attacked by a trojan.  My anti-virus software is good enough to catch them.  The AVG is a good anti-virus for those who do not want to pay and it provides basic protection. However, I noticed my protection was better when I paid for software rather than using the free one.

    This was not an issue until Microsoft released it's weekly updates this week.  Everything was fine until the updates were installed. After checking into different forums on the web about this issue, their is one thing in common between all of them---trojan horse Dropper.agent.joc
    - there were a lot of questions dated 8/22 - 8/23.  Hmmmm.  what else was there in common? Ah Ha-- the most recent updates from Microsoft!!!!!   AVG  8.0 did find it then moved it to the virus vault.  My AVG is set to scan every hr.  The next time the scan ran, it found trojan horse Dropper.agent.joc again in 2 different locations on my computer.  Again AVG moved it to the virus vault.  The next hourly scan detected it again in another location on the computer. It might be a type of worm that notices when it is being scanned then copies itself and relocates the copy to a file that has already been scanned. It may or may not show up with each scan. On another scan, I left it "active" to see if it would be detected on the next scan.  Guess what?  It was not detected.  Manually ran the scan 10 min later & it was detected.  Just because you moved it to the virus vault or deleted it and it does does not show up doesn't mean that it is gone. Just scan on a regular basis.  Don't contact Microsoft about this issue their reply was, "It's not our issue."  What a reply from a company that has a monopoly in the PC business .

    I don't think this is HubPages related DJ.  I'd suggest looking up the error message you saw with a search engine.  It may take a little digging, but you'll probably find an answer eventually ...

    I only say it was HubPages related because that was the only site I was on.  In edit mode, making a new hub.   
    
    My AVG detected it. So i printed the message that was on the warning. 
    
    Those that know me know I am a clueless panic-ridden computer person.  Apologies.
    
    Thanks for your help guys.  I have scheduled scans every hour as well.

    It could have already been on your PC prior to being in hubpage edit mode and may have only been detected when the virus updates updated!! OR many many other possible possiblities..
    
    The main thing is your protected and your program is set to auto-update!

    Auto-updates should automatically update when and when new file definitions are available be-it hourly or every few hours!!
    
    I used to use AVG which had problems auto-updating (for me) and now use Nod32 which is very very good, light weight and powerful!

    I've had problems Mozilla Firefox because i can't see my videos.  It says double-click here to load the Flash Player and it doesn't work.  Ugh.

    I have never seen a notice to "double" click! ...try clicking just once! Unless the file is on your desktop you have just downloaded and not yet installed!!

    With computing, there can be a million possibilities to one perticuler problem and like a doctor, I would have to test various things that could be the possible causes!! Some times it can be such a simple solution to a severe problem!
    
    I used to have soo many problems within certain browsers, and not enough time to fix, so i will simply use another browser!

    from here> http://www.file.net/process/knlwrap.exe.html your knlwrap is not in the windows folder/system32. so it is very likely this is a false positive. ( meaning NOT a virus )
    
    You can remove the 2 trojans  Give this a go> Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware Home Edition (free edition)
    
    * Load SUPERAntiSpyware and click the Check for Updates button.
    * Once the update has finished, exit SUPERAntiSpyware.Please do NOT run a scan yet!
    
    IMPORTANT Do NOT open any other windows or programs while SUPERAntiSpyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process.
    
    * Open SUPERAntiSpyware and click the Scan your Computer button.
    * Check Perform Complete Scan and then click Next.
    * SUPERAntiSpyware will now scan your computer and when it’s finished it will list all the infections it has found.
    * Make sure that they all have a check next to them, and then click Next.
    * Click Finish and you will be taken back to the main interface.
    * It could be possible that it will ask you to reboot your computer in order to delete some files after reboot.

    Do an Update.... The latest virus database update - 270.6.7/1631 for Sunday 8/24 
    
    It appears AVG was giving a false positive report.  ( meaning NOT a virus )

    I wanna thank the staff for letting this PERSONAL matter fly on the forums.  I will in the future, email hubpages diretc and if you guys think this thread might scare potential newbies then please delete it or move it, etc.
