      Yeah I am going to have to say the egg as well.
      
      With the way I am thinking, the hen was evolved to yet was still producing eggs. SO, the original hen had to come from an egg.

   Hen!!...she rolled up out of the swamp one day and after experiencing life and feeding for a bit suddenly sat down and an egg fell out of her ass...hen examined the thing and instinctivly sat on it and began incubating the first hatchling rooster by way of immaculate conception. hell...if mary can do it so can a chicken. and without giving up a rib.
