A book and the movie

   I think it's interesting to read a book and then to see a movie based on; and to see a movie then to read the book which was the source of inspiration. It's fascinating to see how the script writter or the producer thought the characters from the book.

   My favorite is the "Dune" series of books.  In my opinion there is much more tangible content there than inherited in the original film.  However, as a film I still enjoy it.

   Yes, it is fascinating to compare a book and a film.  I have done it recently in a hub about "An education".  It shows the advantages books have over films.  An inner life is easy to voice in a book, but cannot be voiced in a film.  Yes, I know voice-overs and narrators exist in film, but it always feels phoney.  Books are still the best way to explore the inner life of other people.

   Not me, if I read the book I don't want to see the movie. Most of the time its just not the same. The characters wont match what I envisioned them to look like. Most importantly they usually change the ending.

      Unusually, I found the ending in the film 'The Devil Wears Prada' far more satisfying than in the book.

         I agree on this one. The book was actually pretty bad in how depressing it was. The author has a dark mind. I think the movie script improved the concept immensely. Sometimes movies do that very well (and sometimes they don't

   Recently I've been reading books that ive seen the movies to.  Like most people, when I see a movie that I've read the book to, I always think the book is better, but it kinda works the same the other way round too. When I see the movie first I tend to prefer the movie.

   I used to love reading Stephen King, but to me the films have always been a sad shadow of the suspense in the books.

      Mod2vint seems to have made me think of endings ... Have you seen and read 'It'? The ending in both book and film is a total anti-climax. In the film it just seemed so much worse.

         Yes I've read the book and seen the film, but I'm also sure I have the start of Alzheimers becausemy memory has gone!
         Was 'It' was one where the hand came out the grave at the very end?

   Nope doesn't ring a bell. I did say my memory is seriously fading. Good thing about that is I can now read a book I just finished because I've forgotten what was in it.
   The one that sticks in my mind was the one about the vampires? Brilliant book. The film wasn't half so good.. Ahh...Salem's Lot.

      Ah, yes, I've only seen the film. I think the best Stephen King film is 'Misery'.
