I'm back hubbing after a long lay off. One of the things I wanted to do was a series of Hubs on poker, specifically the home game and dealers choice games. I've done a bunch of them without complaint from HubPages.

Joined Xomba to explore the backlink concept, and did two Xomblurbs discussing and linking to a couple of my poker hubs. Received this message from the Xomba moderator: "Just so you know, I had to delete two of your articles because they were related to gambling. Google does not allow anyone on the site to talk about gambling, it is against their terms of use."

I see so many hubs, on poker, and that poker is a HubPage category. I don't want to create problems for myself or HubPages with the Google machine. Can anybody shed some light on this terms of use issue? Is it a Xomba interpretation issue? I talked about poker, but not gambling. Can I safely do hubs on poker?

Im really not sure where the line is..but I really does seem  Xomba is being overly careful.

If you put "poker" into the google adwords tool youll see massive returns on the term

With so many advertisers, adsense must not have much of an issue servings ads for poker

I would look around the adsense forums for detailed info and some staff responses on where the line is between poker and card games and 'gambling"

Sunforged, thanks for the reply. Agree that it is likely that Xomba is being overly careful, but that is their choice. Didn't think of going to Adsense forums, good idea.

    And from Google:

    Gambling content

AdSense publishers aren't permitted to place Google ads on sites with gambling or casino-related content. In other words, if your site accepts money or allows users to place bets in exchange for an opportunity to earn cash or other prizes, then it's unacceptable to place Google ads on your site. Please note that this policy also prohibits the placement of Google ads on sites that link to online gambling sites.

I'd be contacting the HP team for further clarification.

Thanks darkside, I had checked the HP Help section, read the area you quoted, and thought I was ok. Re Google restrictions, again I thought I was ok - no links or reference to online or casino gambling. My Hubs are about dealers choice home games, where no profit, or rake is allowed. Agreed that I need HP interpretation, confirmation that I'm well within guidelines.

There are some great hubs on here about poker. They're instructional and don't *really* promote gambling in the way that Google is referring to. You may want to do a search on HP to get an idea of what poker hubs are already on here.

Thanks girly_girl109. I had done a poker hubpage 4 years ago. When I came back I found many poker hubpages. Saw a niche for myself and started writing. Still think I'm well within HP guidelines, letter and spirit.
