I was wondering if we are allowed to post links to references/sources that we used in writing a hub?
For instance, if I write a hub on something historical I had to have gotten the information from somewhere and if I just took it without referencing the source it wouldn't it be plagiarism?
Thanks for answering.
Yes, you can include references and sources by adding a "Links" Hub, or simply putting the links in a text capsule using the chain icon.
There is no penalty for plagiarism on HubPages - it's up to the source you're quoting from to complain. However, there IS a penalty for duplicate content, and that has nothing to do with whether you acknowledge your sources.
Duplicate content is content that's duplicated from somewhere else, legally or not. Your Hubscore will be heavily penalized for it - and you won't earn much from Hubs that simply repeat material which is already common elsewhere, because Google will give priority to the earlier sources.
It's fine to quote, but make sure your quotes are only a minor part of the whole Hub.
Besides, gathering the information and presenting it in your own words wouldn't be plagerization either. No need to cite sources other than direct quotes if it makes you feel more comfortable.

Hi, I just found out that one of my hubs has been completely copied to another website. My hub was published in Feb and this is copied in April. I have checked the information on this and found that I have to first send an email to the infringing site for removing the content. However, the email...

What is duplicate content? When I get flagged for duplicate content, it kind of breaks my heart, especially when I write something that is totally original - no quotes, no links, etc. I see so many "duplicate" hub oriented hubs and wonder why they exist without being flagged as duplicate...

If a hubber keeps getting flagged for publishing duplicate content from other sources (not their own), will they eventually get banned? Or is it HubPages policy to just remove the flagged hubs? Just curious.

How is it that you people don't have a specific, formatted module (short of adding another "text" module) to include your sources/bibliography?And don't gimme any crud about how everything here is SOOOOOO original it can't be sourced . . .it isn't; while I was born at night, it...

After reading every post, every article, etc... on the subject matter I thought I'd start a post with arguments against Amazon being the source of the free fall in traffic that many of us experienced last week as I don't believe it is the problem. (I can't say 100% for sure).1.) Many hubbers which...

I'm pretty new to HubPages (joined 6 weeks ago but got "busy" about 2 weeks ago posting Hubs) -- I got spanked last week and had a hub taken down temporarily for citing direct links to the particular information relating to multiple parties (all of which linked to SEC.gov, but different...
