I just received my 10t email in about 1 1/2 weeks from a different female in Africa each time stating they read my HubPages profile (emailing me through there) and want to get to know me much better.

They are including massive amounts of sexy color photographs and a bio on themselves.

They refer directly to my profile details and its pissing me off.

Should  I just say I prefer women on my profile and leave it at that or can somebody think of what I could write that would state something like
    business inquires only?

I dont know I delete but they keep coming

am I the only lucky one here?

Agreed...delete, forget it...it will eventually go away.  Any change you make to your profile will be noticed, just as if you had responded with an email. Somebody out there is having fun, but will get very tired of it with no response from you.

They're spammers.  Never, ever, ever reply to them.  Unfortunately, if you replied to the first one, that's why they keep sending them - they've put you on some kind of spam mailing list.  You may have to change your email address.

I think a Hub on this experience would be a good thing.  You've got lots of material, like your own thoughts and the back and forth in this forum. You are not the only one who is "attacked" this way. A Hub with helpful advice about how to handle the situation could be a good thing. Should you write your Hub, just don't ever reference these emailers by anything specific, such as time and place and country of origin.

Sally, the only way to handle this situation is to delete the emails.  If you respond to them in any way, you've revealed your email address to spammers and you'll never be free of them.

You are absolutely right, Marisa. I agree completely, which I said earlier in this thread. Never respond to the emails.

This is a lesson that we can all profit by, and if a Hub is written in an educational and informative way, with caution on the part of the writer, then this can be a help to all of us.

Marisa is correct. They are spammers. they want to be your friend then they tell you a sob story and ask you to send money on. They've picked up your email address but they don't know if its active until you respond.
This is why you should never respond.
There was a forum topic on just this matter yesterday.

Mine was Liberian. Roselinebrown@yahoo.com or something similar. Not sure we are getting the same spammer, the pic was blocked on mine, but it sounds similar.

Roselinebrown is a well known one, with various yahoo addresses.  I got one from her through one of my websites just today.  She's on this list:

In future, check any dubious messages here:

    Hey Lyrics,

I've been receiving to my Yahoo.com email account from some women who claim to have gotten my email from HubPages Profile.

It's a lie. They retrieved YOURS and MINE from the promotion links we provided in the Forums for our Valentine's Day Hubs.

The simply searched through the forums and tagged our emails addresses, because they were posted on a thread.

Since I used my Yahoo.com account and not my primary account, these types of emails have been going directly into my SPAM folder and I've been deleting them, when I get new ones. smile

I knew this before doing it, that people scan forum threads for email accounts. Hence, why I used my Yahoo.com account and NOT my primary account. smile wink
