Hey folks! I'm trying to find out what songs eveyone thinks sound better acoutically or "unplugged" than the original version. So far, I'm going with "Down in A Hole" by Alice and Chains and "Stillborn" by Black Label Society.

It has to be Eagles Hotel California.  Lots of good guitar players.

BTW:  One of my favorite rock songs where the original is played accoustically is Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here".  (I know it wasn't asked but I added this one for free smile    )

'Down in a Hole,' 'Lake of Fire' and 'Hurt' are good shouts. Cash did a pretty good cover of 'Rusty Cage,' too. big_smile

Page and Plant - 'No Quarter' was pretty good as an acoustic version.

So was Soundgarden - 'Like Suicide.'

Cornell's Unplugged In Sweeden bootleg is pretty freakin' sweet.
Like A Stone (Audioslave), All Night Thing, Call Me A Dog, (Temple of the Dog), Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden) are all amazing but his cover of Thank You (Led Zeppelin) is an absolute stand out.

I went out to see Nick Lowe a few months back and he did a great solo acoustic version of "What's So Funny About Peace love & Understanding". Before that I had only heard Elvis Costello's version.
