Think outside the box and have some fun cocktails that are different - look on the internet - lots of choices.
Depending on your crowd and age group a funny game that I have seen at a party where drinks were involved that is too funny is:

Take a toilet paper roll and a plunger - one person holds the toilet paper between their legs and another person puts the plunger between their legs. Then the person with the plunger comes from behind and has to get the plunger through the toilet paper roll. Yes it is a bit strange, but extremely funny if you have a crowd who has had some drinks and can handle that type of game - you will all be rolling on the floor laughing very hard.

Another fun one is when you choose a word that no one can say like "Drink" and everyone wears a necklace you gave out or a pin. When someone catches another using that word then they get their necklace or one from them. At the end of the night who ever has the most wins the game. Pick a word that you know will be hard not to say and the more the night goes on the harder it gets.

My best  suggestion is have cocktails there lol

    You Party Animal

btw I just did a hub on funny hats = it would be hilarious to have a hat coctail party - they can buy or make them and during the party if they're tired of it they can take it off - unlike a theme or costume party.

read the hub, I swear so hilarious and even the men can get very creative

    I'm still laughing

cheers!  Hope it's a smashing success

Name of party-my hats off to you lmfao

    xo

I've never played games at a cocktail party so I can't help you there, but you may want to consider including a section on the RSVP that asks your guests what their favorite cocktail is. Then, you can have all the ingredients ready to make them!

What age is the group of people you are inviting?  My cocktail parties are generally with people our age (mid 40's).   I have a big gold tub filled with ice & assorted beer, pop & bottled water. One one counter I have a variety of liquor along with lime & salt/sugar and a martini mixer, and ice bucket.

We don't play games.  I have music on & people mingle.

Jane, they will be mid 30's to early 40's so we are thinking games and passing cocktails, but making there own is a good idea too.  I appreciate it.

Gosh you guys are giving me some wonderful ideas, keep them coming!

Make sure you have some non-alcoholic cocktails for those who are driving or do not drink alcohol and some vegetarian nibbles.

ohhh, I will have the cokes, etc... for non-drinkers but the veggie nibblets is one I forgot, Thanks!  Do you have any good suggestions on the veggies?  I make my standard but would love other ideas.

Last time I made sandwiches (with sliced bread) and cut them in four, to make them bite size.  You could fill them up with egg mayonnaise, olive tapenade, salmon, cheese...
You could also make double sandwiches: bread + tomatoes+bread+avocado puree.

I am a cheese fun so I usually have lots of wine and a variety of cheese and breads.

Don't forget to add some fruits and veg. on your cheese platter, it not only makes for pretty and colourful decoration but it also enhances the flavour of some cheeses and serve to "clean" the flavour of one before you go onto the next one.

I usually try seasonal fruits like figues (they look beautiful when cut open) grapes, apples, etc.

Drop a shot glass of red bull in a glass of beer[Heinekens best]and down it!
The effect is a quick drunk that cant stop talking!
Make sure you invite funny people to your party and Walla!
