I'm not sure what country you are writing from.  I'm in the U.S. and NO they won't know unless you tell them.  You don't even have to say you worked at that other place.  I've omitted short-term jobs from my resume because they were irrelevant.  Even if you do tell them you worked for the other place, and lets say they call that place, it is illegal to divulge any information other than the dates you worked.  They can't share the reason for your separation.

not sure about temp agancies... but normaly the old employer can only say if they would reccomend you or not. They cant say why.
I used to be in charge of hiring and firing....I ahd to answer lots of questions about past employees and legally i coudl not say that they sucked. (not that you do!!)
nevermind, i hope that made sense
    hope your day gets better!!

I'm sorry I don't have any solid advice, but it they do find out, a good explanation can go a long way.  Is there anyone at the company that you were working for that would write you a rec?  Proving that you were a good employee, and just forgot procedure might help.

I hope your day gets better.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your input as it makes me feel better. I was just upset because I worked my arse off at this temp job but couldn't take it...it's hard to make women cry about their husband losing their job with babies screaming in the background and knowing they are only recently late just because of that.

It's just been almost 6 months since I graduated, and I wanted an in between job and I feel so stupid that I blindly killed my chances at this one temp agency. I just was scared that my name on their 'nohire' list would get around. :[

You worry too much.  I had a temp agency call me and FIRE me over the frickin answering machine....back in the '90s.  No one will know unless you tell them.  I was fired from a medical records PHOTOCOPYING job.  That's right.....I wasn't even capable of photocopying pages out of a file....but I own my own corporation now and am relatively successful.  So, for all those who said it couldn't be done....BOOM, It's DONE!!!  I think you are feeling guilty because you are feeling like you let someone down?  Who?  You have to really sit down and ask why you are so upset.

This is good to hear. I'm just annoyed that I was dropped by the temp agency because I let them down not by doing bad at the job, but by not following their regulations of giving a week notice.

I just hated the job so much I couldn't wait a week. I totally forgot about the week notice though, so I just feel stupid that I got put on a no hire list.

Seriously, thanks for the insight and same for rebekah. I'm feeling better.

you should be fine. if you didn't work there long, as it sounds, I wouldn't even list it on your resume or job application.
another lesson learned, that's all. I couldn't do that sort of job either. I guess people have to grow numb to what they're doing for those kinds of jobs. hmm
