Another Site With Copied Content

   Unfortunately (and quite by accident) I discovered another site that appears to have HP content duplicated upon it. I have found one of mine, copied within two weeks of when I originally published it. I have found other hubbers work also on the site. I have now filed a DMCA.

   I can no longer access the site, unless I join. Otherwise I'd keep sifting through.
   
   No links back to any contentt that I read before access was denied.

   They're running Google ads.  Be sure to file a Notice of Infringement with Google as well as with the site itself.

   I would be interested in hearing what the actual site is because I would like to see if any of my friend's work is on the site.  Please respond as soon as you can as for some reason--well, read my profile and you will see why I am asking you to respond as soon as you can.

   And just to say, the siteowner replied within minutes. That's the fastest and most polite response I've ever had re a DMCA.
   
   I expect he will deal with anyone that contacts him, should they find their content pasted on his site. He said that he'd no interest in having users that copy content using his site.
   
   My hub was removed before he emailed me.

      I can see that Jimmy The Jock has been copied ...hopefully the site admin can just cancel the account of 'adams" as he has posted all copied content that comes up under a "hubpages" search

   not a very scary site ...traffic is so low..I only saw PSA ads (google-public service) ...when i tried to check the "hubpages" tag page I get a fatal database error (problem with the site, not virus or anything like that) the search function returns a frequent "not authorized' return.

   Sunforged - one of the most viewed articles is copied straight from wikihow. I believe the guy may have a big problem. There were a few that I did a quick check on before I found I needed to join. All appeared copied and pasted from various sources around the 'net.

   well, I meant not a scary site for us...highly unlikely this big mess of copied content will ever show up competing for traffic with any of our hubs.

    I was not impressed by some of the content.  I didn't see a way to search for a specific writer though so I guess you have to search only by title.

          Oh!  I'm sorry!  So you mean to say it's not like the best of HP where they just reprint hubs but this is a place where they copy and paste content but not names.
          Sorry.
          I missed that.  That sucks.  Still, I am not impressed with most of what I saw.

    i was pretty much kidding....double meaning, if you were to search for your own writings what name would they fall under?
    
    the site in question is a hubpages clone/impression share site...so just like if you felt like copying any article and reposting here..you would get away with it until it was flagged and caught by the original author.
    
    i just reiterate that, because its not the site owners fault that the content is copied..its user submitted

    As I said previously, the site owner - Ben, was more than rapid in his repsones to my initial email. He has contacted me a total of three times and thanked me for doing so.
    
    As Sunforged said, it's not his fault that his users take the piss. And he is looking into copied content. I'm sure if you identify anything belonging you and send him an email with the link, he'll remove it.
    
    I'm sure that's going to give him a bit of work but in his favor, he was extremely fast.
    
    @sunforged - I was actually looking for something to write about and was playing around with google search. A term I used threw my copied content up. In total, it had 671 views in four months. It was on page two of Google, so not sure if it was damaging my hub.

    shmouts - what you just did was wrong. We don't know the man from adam. And how many men will have the same name? You just can't go around doing such things. Are you the guy that was copying content? You join, home in on this thread and post that link. Very strange.

    Noooooo Izzy you reposted the link! We can't point fingers about stuff like that! Remove the link. We don't know who the site owner is, we can't accuse or join in when others do the accusing, it's plain wrong!
    
    The alleged offences are extremely strong and may cause untold damage for the wrong person.

    I don't know Izzy, I didn't check. I just think that stuff like that is best left to those that know more about it, the exact details and have the right information etc. Years ago, I was accused of having photographs taken for a porn magazine (of all things!). The model was my double, even had the same name. But she wasn't me. I had an awful time living it down.

    Thanks for the warning frogdropping and thanks for the wise advice Relache. I don't know if any foul play has occurred with my work yet, but it's good to be warned in case I do find some of my work where it doesn't belong.
