Hey guys! The Hurtlocker has grabbed 8 Oscars!!
Avatar, being a 3D movie, just managed three.... (I am disspointed..)
<snipped - do not post links in the Forums>
I saw both movies including Avatar in 3d and without a doubt, Hurt Locker was by far the better movie! I see a lot of movies and can count on one hand the ones that are memorable, and Hurt Locker is one of those movies!
well, I must admit that I didnt see The Hurtlocker. But yeah, many of my friends have seen that, and they were all bananas for that!
But still, Avatar was a really chic movie.. with all the 3D effect and all. Maybe I will see the Hurtlocker in a day or two, and then will post a hub regarding that!
The Hurt Locker is a nail biting tension driven drama. It captivates you, pulls you in and leaves you wondering what's coming next.
Avatar was a slickly produced but predictable film, not unlike the old cowboy and Indian westerns. Yes the 3D was cool, the acting was fine but the plot. well it's been done before with the same predictable results.
For me, it takes more than great special effects to make a good movie and Avatar just didn't have the substance.
I won't watch war movies.
Portrays man at his absolute worst.
I love scifi!
I know, I know it's loaded with killing by we predatory humans, but, to me, Avatar and the amazing special effects should have won!
I thought the "blue" ladies were gorgeous and very sexy.
"Specially the "blue" leading lady! Her eyes would melt any man who is "ALIVE."...:-)
im not. to be honest, as good as "avatar" was, it was the vastly over rated. if it were up to me, i'd pick either "Inglourious Basterds", "Precious" or "District 9" to win best picture. however, it wasn't up to me. however, "The Hurt Locker" was a great film in it's own right. I wouldn't call it necessarily the best war movie out there, as most critics are naming it, but it was certainly worthy of its awards.
did you see the hurt locker?
I saw both and loved both of them. I was thrilled to see the hurt locker (an independent film) take the award. I would have been happy with either. if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend watching it.
but, I could not see a single hub regarding the hurtlocker!!
being an independent film, it didn't have the exposure big budget movies have thus less exposure and less theatres showing it.
I had heard a lot about it and found a theatre in the area and I have to say, it changed me. I walked out of the movie feeling more connected to our troops. sadly, I think a lot of people have false assumptions about the people who enlist to serve our country. this movie speaks on different levels, and it shouldn't be missed. you can rent it or buy it now, possibly it may get some viewings at theatres again, not sure.
here's another thread on it from a month ago:

it's nice you made a hub for it. I'm surprised there weren't others. I'm sure it will get views.
Avatar was a multi billion dollar movie, and Hurtlocker was just Free in comparison.. lolz..
The science/art of cinema reached its zenith in 1968 when Moses heroically confronted talking Apes bent on enslaving mankind.
Everything since then has been irrelevant fluff (accept, of course, for the wonderfully playful tale that recounted the adventures of a group of young Americans as they tried to enter Porky’s establishment)
Haven't heard of Hurt Locker before. However, I googled it and discovered it's a war film, so it doesn't interest me in the slightest. I find war films tedious in the extreme.
I enjoyed Avatar. I agree it's predictable, but nevertheless, in contrast to my usual behaviour, I didn't look at my watch once all the way through.
yup.. that is exactly what I was saying. The Avatar is the biggest hit of all times. And, just a fraction of the people who saw Avatar, must have seen the Hurtlocker! Yet, it won more Oscar. Now, I guess that the awards should be given to the stuff which has more appeal and which is more popular. isnt??
not exactly. besides, if you went based on that logic, then "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Twilight Saga: Full Moon" would've gotten nominated. Not saying they deserved any recognition as both those films sucked. However, they were among some of the most financially successful films of last year behind "Avatar."
All I know is that I am one of three people in the United States or for that matter anywhere who did not see Avatar. But I did see Hurt Locker and at the end of the movie I felt very sad. So If I get emotionally Involved I know I have seen a good movie !

Although it premiered early last year I just decided to watch it due to it's Oscar nominations. I found it to be boring, plot-less armature film making that attempted to explain how the average soldier's brain "ticks". I think the appeal must be in the disenfranchisement of cultural norms...

I just read an article about Avatar 2. I will now attempt to translate Cameron's comments from the article, onto this forum post."We're really hoping you people will come to see this. Because even though you complained ruthlessly about the first film, we also know that we have the sixteen to...

Does anyone else share my hate for sappy movies that always end well?I know it's weird but I actually prefer tragedies. If the movie ends with everyone happy and no one dies I usually hate it.

Which movies do you think they're overrated?sometimes when I see a movie in the box office and hear about its succes , I get so excited to watch it but when I do, I feel as if I completely wasted my time, whether it's drama, fantasy, or comedy, there is some movies that even though they have...

Doesn't it just hurt when you finally get to see a long awaited, and highly anticipated Hollywood movie only to be painfully disappointed with the bad acting, weak dialogues, and horrible cgi images?? So, I wonder if Hollywood is suffering from a brain-drain or they are just becoming careless. What...
