best free anti virus and malware ?

      I would say the top three free antivirus programs in my book would be, and this is in no specific order.

   avg 9.0 antivirus free one month trial is perfetc, then buy it, and this protects against malware and anything else that is a threat. Get it from avg website.

   I use AVG free running all the time from start up, but I also have Malware AntiMalware Bytes and Supere AntiSpyware free edition on my comp that I manually run and update now and again to keep everything clean. Because they are not running all the time they use very few resources.
   I'd buy AVG as the paid version can do it all, but I'm unemployed and can't afford it right now.

   Yes I've used the free version of AVG for over 5 years and have no complaints.

   Check the AV performance tests on the internet and then decide. So far Komodo, Avira are good free AV softwares.
   
   For Malware, use Malwarebytes anti-malware software.

   AVG Free - I have tried them all Norton, McAfee but AVG Free costs nothing and works the best.

   I much prefer Avira to AVG - the footprint is much smaller

    AVG free edition, but for malware, spyware and hijackers, you need Spybot Search and Destroy and Malware Bytes, both will protect your computer and you may want all three like I have

    I find the aniti-Malware MalwareBytes a very useful one. I have spy bot as well but seldom use it. Malware Bytes help me defeat a trojan that McAfee, Spybot and AdAware all failed to deal with. Still it's not perfect
