Hello I was wondering if someone at hubpages could explain to me what the incentive is to share the impression revenue with adsense and kontera?, when one could write there own content on their own site or blog, without the limitation of what one can say, i.e. being flagged for being overly promotional, I don't mean to be disrepectful, I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time, if I can't have freedom of speech, and limited in profits that can be generated, thanks for your help!
Marlon
Honestly, I don't know if Hubpages is the site for you, based on your existing hub and your profile information, as well as your inaugural question for the populace.
Also - copying content from another site for your very short first hub isn't a good way to start, on Hubpages or anywhere else for that matter.
Anyone that joins hubpages should read the TOS carefully, no one ever will actually force you to publish on this beatiful network. Therefore read the TOS carefully to find out if the content you desire to publish is suitable here.
Hub Pages provides a place where writers can focus on writing, not the techy tasks of getting a domain name and setting up a web or blog from scratch. Writers pay nothing out of pocket.
The time and energy saved is well worth sharing revenue, I think.
I think that while what everyone else says is true it doesn't address the question. Chances are, you won't be here long, however your question is one that is asked by a lot of people.
The big advantage to writing for a revenue sharing site is that you can tap into the traffic and the reputation of the site. Starting a new site or blog is a lot of work. It is hard to get it so that your blog or website shows up in the front pages of a Google search and building traffic is even harder then getting traffic to your hubs. While Hubpages has rules and can flag your hub for not following them, in reality this is what has built up a good reputation though there are other revenue sharing sites with less rules who still have a fairly good reputation.
Then there is the amount of work that goes into building a quality site. One either has to build the pages themselves or they have to pay someone to do it for them. Hubpages does all of the maintenance, all the leg work, and still offer you several options for your own pages.
What makes Hubpages one of the best is that they offer so many ways to make money and they share everything. Several revenue sharing sites run Kontera and keep all of those profits for themselves only sharing Google Adsense revenue. Hubpages shares everything and has a great system for setting up great pages and not just writing articles.
Two months, one hub that doesn't even really have an ending, and you're worried about having to share your income? Are you for real? It boggles the mind.
I believe Hubpages is a great addition to my online writing endeavors. I have a blog and also write on Squidoo, but I like Hubpages a lot and am enjoying writing here as well. I have been writing here for 2 months now and have 9 hubs. I am already seeing some money trinkle in. adsense, kontera and a few eBay sales. And, that is a good thing.
I like to branch out and not have all of my eggs in one basket. In my opinion, you can never have too many sources of residual income even if some of that income is shared.
Ya know, I took the question at face value and didn't even look at profile stats. Thanks for opening my eyes, dafla and profiler!

Can you make a living writing for ad-revenue sharing sites?I know the chances of making enough to live off from HP alone is not very likely, but what if it was combined with say Triond and Helium...do you think it's possible to make enough or will it always be 'extra' income?Do you make enough...

Will participating in AdSense revenue sharing sites kill our own blog?

After reading another info packed hub from Mark Knowles I note he recommends not using the revenue sharing feature of sites such as Shetoldme and snipsly as your adsense code will leave a 'footprint' for google to see you are creating your own backlinks.See: ...

I am currently developing a revenue sharing site and would value the opinions of people who use these types of sites. Whether you contribute articles for fun or earn a substantial income, all comments and points of view are important to me. What I want to know is what differentiates a good revenue...
