I am confused with these tracker thingys. I really have not been able to work it out. I made one but nothing is on it so maybe its not right. So is there a way to delete it and perhaps try again. Thanks
You can not delete trackers, but you can create more (up to a maximum of 30). But there is nothing wrong with the tracker that you did make. To use it a link just you just need to put it in at the beginning of the link like this:
http://hubpages.com/_hughey/profile/Eileen+Hughes
and then put the link somewhere where people will click on it. You won't necessarily see big numbers rolling in right away -- it all depends on how many people click the link.
On the page it says "The default tracker is all that's required, but you can create up to twenty independent trackers".
can you change a tracker? what if you hit 30 and need a different one?
Thanks for that so when you say put it somewhere. Do you mean the way that you have written it . Can I put this on my blog or what.
I did put one one my blog and it comes to my front page on hubs.
The way you have written it. Can i put that on other peoples hubs.
Gee I am so consused. Thanks for your help
Why would you want to post referral URL's in other peoples hubs?
I think she meant can you refer someone to someone elses hub (a good topic perhaps?) that would get them to also sign up (even referring to anothers hub the link would stand to give you credit if they sign up as being under you..)

I would suggest being careful with the ones you create. You cannot delete or update a tracker once you create it. If someone can demonstrate a real need we might increase the maximum, but so far 30 has been more than enough for everyone.
I can't really see a need for more than 30, realistically creating about 6 is good as darkside stated using generic _about _signup and so on can take the bulk of what you'd need to track, was just curious why theirs a limit? (I can only assume more would be useful in grand marketing campaigns but as you said you can create multiple accounts and get more trackers that way not to mention use several campaigns so there really is no need for more than that.. nuff said.. thanx
The main reason there is a limit is so that nobody tries to grab up all the "good" trackers, with no real intention of using them.

I'm just starting to get my feet wet with all of this... I started trying to learn about referrals and trackers the other day. I'm getting the idea, but does it make sense to use a tracker when using a site like pingler or shetoldme for my own hubs?I tried to search for an answer around the...

I know it's been asked before. I've even asked it before. But is there a better and easier way to bring in links to a link capsule from another hub. It'd make linking series so much easier. I spent about 2 hours yesterday linking an old series that I have together. It included about 20 or so hubs...

Like referrals.1. Why insert an _referralcode into the URL. Couldn't you come up with a dynamic insertion solution? If an insertion was required, what's wrong with appending it at the end of the URL as in ?referrer=xyz? or would that make it too easy for hubbers?2. Why do pages like the Referrals...

I have read everything I can, mostly through HP, about referral trackers and how to set them up but I still am struggling with this. Is there a "Referral Tracker for Dummies". I have no previous knowledge of this and I would love a step by step instruction guide. A lot of the instructions...

Trying to see if I understand this correctly. The trackers only work from outside of HP, correct? So if I have a new affiliate tracker on my profile page or in a hub, it's worthless to me, right? And if I link from one of my hubs to someone else's via a traffic tracker, again, it does me no good,...

I've read the FAQ, darkside's hubs, and several forum threads and didn't see an answer to this.If somebody lands on one of my hubs via a Google search, for example, and thinks "WTF is this cr*p? I could do better!" or (hopefully!) "Wow, this is so awesome - I want to join this site...
