I need some feedback on my helium articles because I don't understand why they are placing where they are. There are only a few. I would be willing to do the same for you with any writing in exchange.

Okay, send me the links through my profile and I'll take a look, although I'm not an expert by any means big_smile

No you don't have to be an expert. Maybe I"m just missing something glaringly obvious.

okay I emailed you. The toxic parent one is right where I want it, so just pick any of the other. I thought of leapfrogging, but not really sure where the problem is.

And thank you so much. Yesterday I had a writing start I had just gotten for posting enough and now it is gone, sigh.

Links should be provided in the extreme hub makeover forum not here. Here they will be interpreted as self promotion and snipped.

This is to do with Helium... a real concern that a writer comes from Helium to ask for comments.  It suggests that they dont have the same level of support that hubpages have.  I was thinking of going to helium for backlinks... not a hope now! lol

No it's good for backlinks. The rating thing really messes with you though. It is very hard to figure out why you are rated the way you are. All my writing seems to me to be of equal quality as my other articles there but some hit number and others just don't move. And I don't know why!!

The best for backlinks are ezinearticles definitely. They do way better in google.

Okay, I decided to look at the article for "Is it possible to unconditionally love an adopted child?"

Would you like my comments here on the forum or would you prefer that I email you from your profile page here? smile

I got it. Thank you very much. If you ever want something critiqued, I am here.

You had very good points. I have to make some decisions about the way I do things.

You do know Helium's community forums have a section where you can ask others for help.

I know because, back when I was an active member, I was one of those people who would try to review at least one article every day.

Jean, don't get bogged down in Helium's rating system! I don't. I write there chiefly for Marketplace, and I assure you that publishers don't pay any attention to ratings.

It was my star. And now it’s gone. Guess I will have to do more to get back as a market place writer.

I used to have writing stars but now I don't - and I don't mind it anymore!

Sure, it means no more upfronts, but with keyword research, I can make that money back from the regular shared revenue in relatively little time. The rating star's the most important thing.

Helium is a scam!  Don't waste your time there.  The rating system is crap!  Many lose their rating stars just before payday.  You then lose all of the pageview money your articles have earned.  Guess who gets it! Read about Helium on HP.  There are several helpful articles here.

Thanks Randy, I will look for those hubs. It made me mad because I had the star, my score was 84% , started a paid article, went back to check the details a couple days later and my star was gone.

Beware of the stewards, Jean.  They have the ability to affect your article ranking if it competes with theirs, specially in the writing contests.  You must rate with the masses in order to maintain rating stars.  This means rating randomly and not spending much time on the process.  Sad, but true!

    Helium is not a scam.

But their system is quite unstable, especially when it comes to writing stars. Bad luck happens and you might lose it at the worst time possible, or good luck can happen and you'll get an extra star at the best time possible (last one happened to me. went from 1 to 2 rating stars at the time of upfront calculation. Only happened once, but that was neat).

But that's why I now only rely on the shared revenue, where I actually do earn a lot of money from. ("A lot" being relative to the fact that I only have 30 articles, more than half of which were from my beginner writing days and way before I even looked for good searchable topics).

Losing rating stars before payday is really rare nowadays though. All you have to do is log in 1-2 days before calculation day and rate 10 articles. Or be like me and log in about once a month and do 20 rates just in case.

It was my writing star, not rating star. It means I have to write another article that places well before I can put in my paid article, which is due tomorrow. Not sure it's worth it. Maybe I'll just turn it into a hub and take a chance at it earning some revenue. Although the $50 would have been nice.

I know. The rating star comment was toward Randy Goodwin's post about 4 or so posts ago.

And at the beginning I addressed writing stars and mentioned I stopped caring about writing stars and only focus on rating stars.

I was killing two birds with one stone, but I should have made it clearer that I was responding to two posters at once.

I'd say rewrite the content into a hub, with a link back to the original article(s).

You obviously have not experienced the same treatment many others have on Helium.  The site is corrupt to the core. They refuse to respond to the Better Business Bureau about many, many, complaints filed against them. Still sound like a reputable site?

The10DollarMarkposted 14 years agoin reply to this

        Guess so.

But since I only care about rating stars, I wouldn't know as much about the faults of writing stars. I haven't cared about writing stars in ages.

I also don't participate in contests and the marketplace because I hate writing for a chance at being chosen. I'd rather go to textbroker and earn less, but at least be guaranteed a payment without other competition.

But since I only use the shared revenue (rating star) portion of the site nowadays, I never have problems. Even with only 30 articles, most (about 15-20) of which were written back in 2007 as a beginner (Helium was my first writing site), and a large amount of the non-beginner articles written back when I still didn't know much about seo, I still manage to make about 20-60 cents a day.

Helium was my first writing site too.  Boy, did I learn a few things about writing sites there.  Although I made three or four hundred dollars in my almost 1 year experience there, most of it was for Marketplace sales at $50.00 a pop and some contest money too.

When I discovered the stews had certain privileges, (this was  denied by the staff) I dug deeper and found out why some things appeared to be not quite right.  It cost me over 100 articles to find out the site was dishonest.  Losing the articles was worth it though!
