When I write I always end up with Novels and the encyclopedia entry like articles I write for world building. I have put alot of time and energy into these bits as I enjoy world building. It seems the only way to get into the fiction publishing market is with short stories but I can never seem to write a short story; every single short story I begin becomes a novel. I've often wondered if I could use my encyclopedia entries for something as they are usually short enough for magazines and the like. thoughts? comments?
Yes though some are about story worlds where the actual story was stillborn leaving me with places, things, and people I'm rather proud of but see no future for.
Si, in essence, encyclopedia means short descriptions of their character and usefullness. Like a bunch of short tales. I can see that. It would also generate more interest in your novels to see just how the characters all fit together. Sounds viable.

Does anyone know any good publications to submit poetry and short stories to for publication?I haven't sought publishing in a while, so I'm out of the loop. I'm looking for paid, preferably, and/or contests and/or publications that represent a good foot in the door and look good on a resume. Thanks!

I know articles can be written on HubPages. Can you write fictional short stories on HubPages also?

How are you promoting your poetry and fiction writing now that Hubpages is putting most of it on idle?
