   I just became a user yesterday. Im trying to generate traffic to my site. Has it been anyones experience of actually making money on websites?

      I know plenty of Hubbers who aren't doing too bad in the making money department. But, they're great writers who love when they're doing much beyond just making some cash. Follow some of the top Hubbers and write a few Hubs and if you stick with it and do it right, you should be happy with the results.

         Bil3mar, always also remember- QUALITY over QUANTITY!!!
         The better and more time you spend on a Hub, the better response it should receive.

            thank you for the advice, I spent alot more time on my latest hub (http://hubpages.com/hub/Adderall-Abuse-on-Campus). Still some real life experience but not a bio. Note my first hub was just a dry run, you guys in here are alot more picky! lol thats a good think though. Thanks again.

   If you expect your computer to be like an ATM that fills your bank account with $100 bills after buying a $49 report on how to make money on the internet, you won't make a cent.
   
   If you treat it as a business, get good advice, and learn how to seperate the good information from the bulldust, how can do very well indeed and make a lot of money from websites.
   
   Do you have a year or so to put in a few hours a day learning and trying things out?
   If so you'll most likely do well.
   
   If you madly buy anything that some spruiker on steroids tells you that you need, you'll just end up with a maxed out credit card.
   
   Spend some time at http://www.warriorforum.com
   
   
   There's a lot of fantastic, free advice there once you learn to seperate the bulldust from the gold dust.
   Just make a promise to yourself not to buy anything in the WSO section for a month or so.
   
   For practical experience, sign up at http://thirtydaychallenge.com
   You'll learn a lot of valuable skills for free, in the quest to earn $10.
   
   Of course, the $10 is not the object of the exercise. It's the skills you'll learn that you can use to make a lot more money.
   (And yes, there's an upsell to a membership site at the 30 DC, but don't less this put you off. All the basic training you'll ever need is available free of charge.
   
   So - If you are serious about making money on the net, you know what to do next.

   @ Eric Graudins - I totally agree, and don't expect to be earning loads of money within a week!

   Personally, because I wanted to build a business and not just make *extra cash* - I spent 3 years at it putting in 14 to 16 hour days.
   
   But it was all worth it in the end.

      Because most people who do both just go on quantity and wonder why there scores are low and there not getting a good flow of traffic.

   I strongly advise against all kinds of "drop-out college students" ebooks who promise to reveal the easiest way to overnight millionaire.
   Buying is easier than learning, but as sad experience shows many to-be IMers never finish reading the stuff they buy.

    The title of this thread pretty much sums it up:  Work at home... for free.  That's pretty much what happens unless you spend the time to generate a body of SEO strong hubs -- you work at home, for free. 
    
    The upside is, it's very amusing here and there's some really strange ducks that swim on this pond that will make you laugh and even cry sometimes.  Not as good as a fortune, but not without value too.

    I would just like to say use original content  if you use information that has been used thousands of times you are just wasting your time.
    There is no secrets or shortcuts to making money online find the information people  want and give them original content. If you consistently add original content the traffic will come.
