Ponderings I feel might benefit from some hub feedback.

I just started hubbing/freelance writing/making websites/trying to make money on the internet. My first hubs are postings from one of the novels I've written as novel writing is the real reason I write. most of the feedback I have received on this hub has suggested that hubpages isn't really the place for for novels and whatnot. I think I can write articles like what seems to be the intended material for a hub but my grammar skills are horrible, it makes it looks like I'm lazy and every time I've ever written much anything all feedback usually focuses on my grammar and its apocalyptic effect on reader interest. I am trying to improve my grammar though I doubt anyone can tell, but in the meantime I would still like to try and publish some web material that might be more appealing to the hubpages target audience. I believe I can write grammatically correct material but I would have to refrain from using anything but fairly basic sentence structure etc. Or I thought I might just write my articles and then slowly go back and make them more and more professional over time. do any of you hubbers have thought, comments, questions?

P.S. I'm new to this whole freelance writing world and all this information adsense, SEO, how to be professional, what sites/organizations to write for is bombarding me. It makes me feel kind of dumb, small, and afraid. Is there some systematic way to go about familiarizing myself and becoming proficient with all this information that someone can suggest?

Did you watch the video I suggested? This guy wrote his novel, but couldn't sell it and then two years of traffic to youtube and he's published with complimentary copies of his book. It is never going to be overnight success!

I believe I was a little catty in my response to your post for help and I'm sorry for that but I see a lot of aspiring novelist here and really there are better places to get critiques of your novel than here.

Welcome to hubpages! Yes, you can learn to write an article just like the ones you see here. My daughter had similar misgivings and is doing wonderfully now.

You need to read, invest in a grammar book of good quality. I'm sure there are hubbers here who could recommend one. Read the help section for insight into how to create great articles that will earn you some money here. Be forewarned though it takes time to go from novice to expert on this or any freelance writing project. I've been here and learn something new everyday that helps my writing.

Check out the hubs by darkside, mark knowles, dale mazurek, nelle hoxie, and oh so many more for good information on how to write great quality hubs on this site, your own blog, website, etc.

Hope that helps to get you started in the right direction and again my sincerest apology for being catty.

I don't mind your cattiness/catyness sp? at all I appreciate getting feedback especially when it isn't what I wanted to hear. Actually your reply in particular inspired me to write this thread and your response here has been most encouraging as well as helpful.

smile Good to hear. I too have some of my work posted here on the site, a book I did try to sell but the market is saturated for what I write and it is going to be near impossible to get this book in print. I have two other stories started, one nearly finished and the beginning of a third but again because of the genre I know I'm on a losing end of it unless I decide to self-pub which I may do at some point.

This business model here at hubpages is excellent because so many offer their knowledge so freely to all of us. Take the time to read. I did. I also didn't officially post my first hub for three months after I joined. So even though it says 10 months I've only really been at this for a good 7 and still working out the bugs.

If you have any questions or would like someone to look over what you have written just let me know, you can email me through here.
