The 2008 election brought us relief from the repressive conservatism which threatened to ruin this country into the ground.  It showed a fair and definite choice of a political party and president elected democratically.  The president was sworn in by a conservative activist judge, twice, despite the fact Roberts did so with gritted teeth.  Too bad.  The people spoke.
Spoiled and "entitled" conservatives have since gone on a nearly two-year temper tantrum /rage festival.  They have done everything they can to try to deligitimize the duly elected party, including trying to stop legislation to imporove health care coverage for the sick, stop financial reform to re-regulate banking and the economy, to stop even the most basic and mundane business of government.
They have spewed nothing but hatred, lies, and fear mongering to regain control.  The Democrats and our president have conducted themselves professionally and have bent over backwards to try to heal the breech the Gingrich Contract with America began and the Bush/Cheney administration widened; the president has had to endure the most vile and evil attacks on him.  Even before he acts, his actions are condemned.
Now we have the gun-toting fools threatening anyone they do not agree with by appearing armed at Democratic gatherings; our leaders have been spit upon; our leaders have had their own and their families' lives threatened; they have had terrorist attacks and committed by the conservative members of this country.  When do you think a pitiful temper tantrum ceases to be high melodrama and become high treason and sedition?  Don't the conservos know that we on the other side are also armed and politely angry at the abuse loaded on us and ours?  You want another Civil War?  We can manage that and kick your stupid asses again.  Screw your confederate flags and your right wing, goose-stepping militarism.  We don't scare as easily as you do.

The very aggressive opposition to the current leadership in your country (I am British) looks more than a little scary out here, politeness and any pretense of fairness seems to have been dumped. From outside, I guess because of the conservative bias of the media, it appears as though there are only people against Obama; yet on these forums there are so few against, and most of them are just sockpuppets of even fewer real people.

I guess this reflects the true position with most in favour of the new gang, or waiting to see what happens, with a few loud aggressive people making all the running on the other side.

The general feeling I get from my friends, after the horrors of the Bush administration, are that the right wing intimidation you speak of is actually dangerous; it is a sad fact that a policy of fear and aggression can work - just look at Nazi Germany.

Just last week a video of an American Apache helicopter was leaked to Wikileaks showing civilians including two AP photographers being mowed down by machine gun or rocket fire. The pilots could be heard yucking it up every time their fire scored a hit on people on the ground.

Interesting video in that it slowed the film as shots were being fired from the Apache but didn't slow the film when it showed people walking around with rocket launchers and machine guns. I guess we'd need to talk to some people who were there to really understand the context, huh?

Do you know anything about economics?
The housing crisis started this whole mess a very long time ago. It had nothing to do with the war.
We have funds as a nation to fund our defense of this country, have a surplus for that in numbers you cannot even comprehend.

The over spending was done by Obama day one! The spending continues and where is the money going? Its like the shell game is it under here? nope. Try again.
I live in a state where the unemployment rate is higher than any other state at almost 15%! so please spare me the governments praises!
I live in a county in that state where the unemployment rate is 15.2% and growing every single day!
And btw, it's the same state where GM became "Government Motors" and the same one that is grossly populated with democrats who btw, are not singing the praises of the "chosen one" anymore and it has nothing to do with republicans or the LEFTIST media!
But has everything to do with most here not being able to feed our kids!!!
Ooops! I forgot the 10.00 raise in food stamps a month here! my bad.

I have a friend of mine we help out when we can who is on welfare after being laid off from a job she worked at for over 13 years. She was surprised to find out that now she gets an extra 1 dollar a month in her cash assistance! (Thank you Mr. President for thinking about us here in Michigan) lol

Yes I do know a fair amount about economics. I majored in economics and took graduate level courses as well. I'm sorry you're having to pay more for your food stamps. GM appears to be on its way toward recovery and repaying the government. What GM got was small potatoes compared to what Goldmine Sachs got on the pass through AIG. That deal was cut with Mr. Goldfein in the room with Paulson and Bernanke as I recall. If memory serves the TARP fund was established by Paulson while Bush was still in office. {Paulson should be in jail, in my opinion.)

Just a quick note regarding the comment on this thread that only a few people posting appear to be against Obama:  As one of those "few people", I will say this:

It's not that there are only a few of us on the conservative side.  It is, however, that for the most part we don't see these forums as the most efficient use of our time and energy.  I do drop by occasionally, as now, but for the most part, no.  Instead, having only so many available hours per week, I spend the majority of my anti-Obama (and pro-Sarah Palin) time in efforts such as making person to person (networking) contacts at political rallies, campaigning for politicians who can defeat our local Representative in November, and writing hubs that have at least a chance of being read by people actually searching for information and a fresh viewpoint.

In other words, like most conservatives, I'm actually working.

"A staffer for Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told reporters that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) had been spat on by a protestor.

Clyburn was downright incredulous, saying he had not witnessed such treatment since he was leading civil rights protests in South Carolina in the 1960s."

"It was absolutely shocking to me," Clyburn said,"I heard some things today I have not heard since that day. I heard people saying things that I have not heard since March 15, 1960 when I was marching to try and get off the back of the bus."

UPDATE 6:55 PM ET: Rep. Emanuel Cleaver's office released the following statement:

This afternoon, the Congressman was walking into the Capitol to vote, when one protester spat on him. The Congressman would like to thank the US Capitol Police officer who quickly escorted the others Members and him into the Capitol, and defused the tense situation with professionalism and care. After all the Members were safe, a full report was taken and the matter was handled by the US Capitol Police. The man who spat on the Congressman was arrested, but the Congressman has chosen not to press charges. He has left the matter with the Capitol Police.

This right wing guy could always check and see if there is a police report, eh?  DUH!
Here's why I say WE HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE:

"A lot of us have been saying for a long time that much of this, much of this is not about health care a all. And I think a lot of those people today demonstrated that this is not about health care... it is about trying to extend a basic fundamental right to people who are less powerful."

Reporting that the protester spit on the congressman is just erroneous reporting. You are invoking an image that isn't representative of what actually took place. The protester was shouting and in doing so was perhaps spraying some of his "ses".

You also don't bother to address the fact that these congressman unnecessarily but purposely walked through the demonstrators perhaps hoping to incite an incident.

And you want us to believe no one would claim a 100,000 dollars because they don't want to deal with "apologists"???

RIGHT NOW:Working for You: Today's Jobs
Cleaver Steadfastly Refuses to Discuss Spitting Incident
Eric Burke, edited by Jason Vaughn
    March 30, 2010

KANSAS CITY, MO - U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver voted in favor of the controversial health care reform bill, but talk isn't raging about how voted, but whether or not he was purposely spit on as he and other congressmen made their way to the U.S. Capitol building to cast their vote.

In video of the incident, a man is seen with his hands around his mouth and yelling at the Kansas City, Missouri, Democrat as he walked by. The footage shows Rep. Cleaver reacting to the man, and is seen a few seconds later wiping his face.

The video is not clear as to whether or not the man spit in Cleaver's face intentionally, or if it was a matter of "say it, don't spray it." Rep. Cleaver never commented on the incident, but it didn't take long before many people claimed that he was spit upon.

In an interview on Tuesday with FOX 4 News, Rep. Cleaver would not directly answer the question of whether or not he was intentionally spit upon.

"I haven't talked about this incident on TV or anywhere, and I've been approached to talk about it on every national TV show," said Rep. Cleaver in an interview with FOX 4 News. "I never, I never reported anything, never a single thing in Washington, not one thing. People assume I went somewhere, never done press conference, never done an interview on it and I'm not going to do it."

Rep. Cleaver's refusal to discuss the incident has not stopped the speculation, including claims that the incident never happened, or that the story was manufactured to discredit conservatives who demonstrated against health care reform.

Rep. Cleaver says that he wants to put the incident behind him.

"All I'm saying is we all have to defuse it, and I think it is not in my best interest or in the best interest of this nation to stoke it," said Rep. Cleaver. "I've avoided doing and I will continue to do it."

Rep. Cleaver is standing his ground on the incident. He says that if the spitting incident hadn't been caught on tape, no one would have ever known because he wouldn't have made it an issue.

"What ever they say is fine with me, I'm not going to get into the issue," said Rep. Cleaver. "I didn't even plan to have it known by anybody."

They plan a march of gun toters to Washington, I guess to further try to intimidate the president.  They are spending tax dollars to try to repeal the health care reform, which is an innocuous bill to get more people covered and to protect sick people from insurance scams.  They have attempted to sabotage insurance reform, have stalled out attempts to regulate the banks and big corporations, have fought any attempts to stimulate the economy and to create jobs--non of which would be in their best interest in regaining power, God forbid. Ignore Sab Oh; he, she, or it is just a provacateur.  It is getting quite serious here.  Pray for us that we don't get another Bush/Cheney type-regime.

I am not sure I agree with a lot of what you have written here. First of all, even if much of the media might (or might not) be owned by conservatives (doesn't Jane Fonda's husband own CNN-Time-Warner...), nevertheless the US media is NOT predominantly conservative: South Park, The Family Guy, Will and Grace, these are not shows with conservative messages -- yet they are on (and produced by) US media outlets.

Secondly, you are feeding into the "us versus them" thing. I cannot believe that all conservatives condone the assassination of abortion doctors, even if they condemn abortion, for example.

I agree that the US news outlets are pitifully weak at going after vested interests, and that there are some glaring examples of them giving Bush-Cheney a free pass (did someone say Iraq War?). Fox News, obviously, is not what I am talking about. There is no muddying the waters when it comes to them. As to the others, they are mixed in their criticism, but the outstanding feature is that they don't criticize ANYONE enough... not even close.

Or, you could just try harder to learn the news.  I read four journals and listen to several television chanels, including PBS, your best bet.  I don't recomment Fox; as Glen Beck says,
    I am not a reporter; I'm a commentator--I commentate."

That is very true, but the hard news on FOX comes without the liberal/conservative slant!

You seem to miss the point; when Beck said he was not a reporter, he was answering the question of why he and his fellows didn't fact check.  His answer was that he wasn't a journalist; he was a commentator.  In case you haven't bothered to look past your navel, the other media does get fact checked, often and vigorously, often by us.  We who want to gather news aren't content with a steady stream of innuendo, conspiracy theory, and pure bull s***t .   The point of viewing other sources, like MSNBC, PBS, BBC America, ABC, CBS, etc.,  for instance, is that they consult everyone, treat them with respect, (unlike the arrogant ass who recently "interviewed" Obama and talked over him the whole time), and admit when they have been fact checked and wrong.  That's called journalism; these real reporters admit their biases but are dedicated to ferreting out the truth.  They have people like Bill Enval (sp?) who is  right now on the ground in Afganistan and was there in Iran during its recent uprising, reporting what is really going on.  Unlike Fox tabloid, which seems to view its role in society as nipping at all but the right wing like a bunch of yapping hyenas , real reporters  call Obama and his administration on their missteps.
Never heard a discouraging word for Bush et al while he was lying, cheating, and turning this country over to big oil, Halliburtan, the banks, et al.  The so-called liberal media calls everyone out, which is their job.  They are supposed to be our watch dogs against the likes of the Bush administration.   If you ever viewed anything but Fox, you would know this.  Real journalism takes dedication and courage, and we need it in our democracy.  We don't need anymore propaganda.  Democracy is not a football game; it is life and death.

Do you mean fact checked like CBS and Dan Rather fact checked?

          Fact check this

In a surprise move, the CPUSA (Communist Party USA) has announced a lawsuit against the Democratic Party and its leadership for the alleged theft of intellectual property. The plaintiffs claim that the entire so-called "new" Democratic agenda is, in fact, the product of a decades-long, painstaking campaign by CPUSA theorists, agitators, and underground subversive cells - which makes it the intellectual property of the Communist Party USA, protected by American copyright laws.

"They stole our entire platform, rebranded it 'progressive', and claimed it as their own," declared a CPUSA spokesperson at a press conference in San Francisco. "And we communists say, not so fast! Not in this country anyway, where we still have property rights and the rule of law, thank God! Actually, let me rephrase that..."

Never heard a discouraging word for Bush?.......doesn't sound like you watched the news for a quite extended period of time.  The liberal media is truly 'so-called' media, 'so-called' journalism.  Their brand of journalism takes no courage, and the only dedication is to mindless 'hah hah I think I gotcha it, check out how I can spin this'. The liberal media is nothing but a propaganda machine, and unfortunately the tone of the liberal media is that of a both a game show and a comedy act.  The nightly MNBC and some of the daily is the perfect example ---  it is easily, so easily, mistaken for a really good Saturday Night Lives spoof on REAL unbiased news.

Continue to live in a dreamy world....and wake up in one like that old classic time machine travel movie, where the grotesque goobers in the caves fed on the humans they kept fed and clothed and mindless and happy out in the sun until they were fattened up and needed.

You know jack squat if you watch Fox.  It shows in your babble and attitude.  Nice talking to your lizard brain, but I have a life.

Doesn't it just seem that no matter how intelligent the conversations start out, a right wing nut invariably turns it into a "yo' mamma" moment?  I guess that's the natural evolution from ranting right wing talking points to a sputtering finish because no one is there to help them out with an intelligent response?  Don't know what I mean by lizard brain, do you?  That's what I mean.  Forum pollution.  Go back to see what Dick Armey, Glen Beck, Rush, et al, et nauseum, want you to say for the day and then shut up.
