Earlier tonight, I checked my email, and was pleased to see someone had sent an email to me through hubpages.com. When I opened it, I could not believe my eyes. Someone claiming to be from a New York ad agency said she found a photo of me I used on a hub here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Man--The-Hairle … -Think-Not .
It seems that the agency was surfing the net to find a yearbook photo to use in PR trade publication ads. My first reaction was that this had to be a joke, but when I checked out the agency she claimed to be working for, it was a real agency, and she was on their staff.
The irony is that the picture they want to use (and pay me for the rights to use it) was one I absolutely hate, which is the reason why I used it in this hub in the first place.
Of course, if they really do want to use it, and the check they send to pay for it is actually good, I just might like it a little more!

This is very good news for you. I certainly hope it turns out to be a legitimate offer. It would be an accomplishment with little effort. Great news!
Darn....! I want some publicity! Camera hog and drama queen I am..Heheheh
The ultimate irony is that my family has a website on myfamily.com. My Uncle Ed always posts embarrassing photos of us on the family press on our birthdays. A couple years ago this July, my uncle posted THIS photograph on the family press, to which I responded that he could burn in hell for posting that picture. He'll enjoy it a little too much if this turns out to be for real. I will update y'all whether this is legitimate or not!
Jim
Please do Jim! Why do families always seem to have one member like this who enjoys embarrassing the family?
Wonder if they need a cute monkey? LOL
Congrats Jim! Hope it turns out to be legit and it opens the door to bigger things!
See???? I bet your mother told you it was nice picture. You should have listened to her.
You said it. I called her tonight after I got the email, and that is exacty what she said! Goes to show how blind mothers can be! LOL!
Jim
No.... Mothers know exactly what they're talking about when it comes to kids' hair and pictures. I'm a mother (although based on the hair-do in that picture, I'm guessing I'm nowhere near old enough to be YOUR mother ) - and I think it's a cute picture. (Just imagine: Now that picture may end up all over the Internet, or wherever else, FOREVER. :lol )
Good thing always comes when you least expected it! You have a great hair cut in the first photo!
You mean the profile photo of me, wearing a hat? I agree!
Jim
It appears this is for real. The agency responded to my email with a copy of the ad as they currently envision it. Now it's a matter of mom or my uncle, the family webmaster, to dig up the original photo and we'll be cooking with gas, so to speak.
Jim
Well, it turns out it was for real, and we sealed the deal on Monday. But it was not all smooth sailing, for reasons I go into with my latest hub titled It Started With A Lousy Photo.

Regarding the latest newsletter about incorrectly crediting images, is it suggested that we take down all images that are not copyrighted or cites "google images" or "microsoft images." Should we, who are guilty, expect a violation email soon? Or worse, get idled?

I think it is so sad that she is trying to do everything right and some idiot photographer can't even give her privacy in a stone walled gated house??? That photographer must have had to climb up a tree to get those photos just sick. Anyway will she ever have any privacy again???What a life...
