    Hello all,
I have three questions about hidden capsules - where you have selected 'do not display this capsule':
    1. Does it matter a jot what I put in it - I was going to tag one onto the end of every hub to record where I have already laid backlinks for that hub- just so I don't have to keep a separate record anywhere else, and I can keep track of how well promoted each hub is. Can I do that?
    2. Does Google pay any attention to what is in the hidden capsule or is it totally hidden from everyone except the author. I was wondering if it is possible to fill it with keywords that Google would notice, but a reader wouldn't see.
    3. Is there a time limit on them. I know deleted hubs disapprear after 24 hours -is there any limit on how long you can have a capsule hidden for?

Everyone's been so helpful when I've posted before, so I shall give thanks in advance for your expert guidance, knowledge and opinions on my lastest hub dillema.

    Ta.

What a brilliant idea!! Wish I'd thought of that, because I get into an awful fankle trying to remember what hub I have backlinkined where!

Thanks Keith - I shall ditch my untidy hand written notes, and add a capsule to each hub.

Izzy - 'fankle' - I love it - every day is an education. That is my new favourite word.

You're welcome...am pretty sure it's an old Scots word. The Scots would say 'an awfy fankle' instead of awful fankle but I was being polite LOL

This is a great idea to keep tracks of backlinks. I already devised my own system I'll stick with.

"2. Does Google pay any attention to what is in the hidden capsule or is it totally hidden from everyone except the author. I was wondering if it is possible to fill it with keywords that Google would notice, but a reader wouldn't see."

While Google, and anyone else besides the author, can't see these hidden capsules content I feel it is worth mentioning that what you wanted to do here could get your content banned from Google if it did work on hubpages.

If Google ever catches a web page showing different content to Googlebot than normal users it will most likely ban the web page! There are ways using "User-Agent" or IP addresses to do this. NEVER do this on your own web site. It is called page cloaking.

Doorway pages, page cloaking, keyword stuffing, hidden text (white text on a white background) or pushing content so far off screen using JavaScript to be invisible to the user are all bad ideas at best, at worst expect a ban.

Thanks MyWebs - I am a total newbie to the online world so I shall take note of your warning, thanks. All I've got in my hidden capsules is a note of what keyword/s I was going after - why I chose that (number of searches, results, competition, etc), and where I've backlinked it, if at all. Hoping this is OK.

What a clever idea.  I've only ever used the hidden capsule when I've had a problem (e.g. I couldn't get a table to work but wanted to publish the Hub anyway).

    Must think about this...

What a good idea!!  loads of stuff you can do with a hidden box in a hub, keeping track of that hubs thingys is obviously the best, did you wake up feeling a genius rush coming on or did it creep up on you ?

oh the genius thing has been creeping up for a while...I'd say over the last 28 years smile. Now all I need to do is convert my giant-mega-genius brain into ££££££, while cooking dinner, washing laundry, driving kids to school, breaking up fights etc etc etc.

That really is a great idea, wouldn't have thought of it myself, frankly.  Too bad I didn't think of it sooner...  Sigh.
