Seriously
Where had these sacrid writtings been stored before they were presented for translating purposes?
How many diffrent keepers of antiquity were there?
It is my understanding that The Church in Rome collected any and all things that they could, that was pertaining to any and all antiquities. Did this include those things that had been saved from Alexandria after it was burned?
I know nothing and do not have an opinion...
I Will sit back and hopefully learn something.
Thanks.
good question, as every religion has its own set of sacred writings. I have asked this very question beofre, of elders in the church when I was younger. I got in ALOT of trouble for it.
They said I had no faith.
Actually, most sacred writings are still hidden. Consider the sheer number of people who have ever populated this little blue planet. Consider the extreme limited modes of migrating information up until only the past two or three hundred years. To assume that all sacred writ is known is absolutely wrong. It's every bit as wrong as assuming the Bible is complete.
Many records have been found in caves and catacombs. Many more have been found in the ground. Stone boxes are constructed to house these artifacts and are sealed until the time of discovery. Translation of these records is a daunting, yet thoroughly rewarding task!
1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
The Old Testament was passed along orally for over 1000 years. Until the 1880's the "Apocrypha" was included in many English Bibles. Someone (similar to many on these threads) decided these gospels were not "the inspired work of God" and they are not normally referenced.
Other ancient ignored gospels are very entertaining in themselves. Ever read "The Gospel of Adam and Eve?"

Just got back from stocking up on cheep meat for the smoker.
back on topic
Didn't realize how uninformed I was! That many hugh?
I was actually speaking of these that make up the cannon.
After all they are the only writtings that contain any truth ? Right ? (just teasing)
Thank you for these references
I was actually speaking of these writings that make up the cannon.
I was asking about; as a police investigator might call it, the chain of evidence concerning the canon.
I think Ezra first wrote the OT on paper around 450 BC
But concerning the NT as written, Where was it kept until it was translated in the 14 century?
Who were the sacrid keepers of the sacred scrolls
When I am accused of blasphemy, I like to say; That I got it all from reading your and my bible.
In my mind, The KJV does not say anything close to what most people are teaching that it does.
