Ok I have more than one so here goes.
1) I have set up my e-mail signature to include links to my sites, are these backlinks?
2) does google recognize the difference between me doing my own backlinking and someone else posting links to my pages?
3) if google knows the difference does one way carry more weight than the other?
That is what I have for now but I am sure many more will follow.
Ohma google loves real links - links given because there is real value in them between site owners of different sites. That's the way it was supposed to be before we all started gaming it.
Everything else is open to speculation, and everyone has their own theories and experiences. And no one really knows for sure.
You bet google knows the difference. Sometimes things work for a while and then the algo changes and they don't work any more.
But real links - they always work. Whether they are one-way or two way.
Thanks Oli
I was not asking about reciprocal links I mean more like if I post a link at say redgage for one of your articles is there more benefit than if you posted the same link at the same site?
Nelle thank you for responding. I am not sure I will ever figure all this stuff out.
I really don't believe in the value of redgage or shetoldme for lasting value. They might be a temporary shot in the arm. Then eventually google will devalue them for what they are.
But for a short fix, I think they're fine.
Yes I am very old school when it comes to links, and thinks that Google hates games and fake links.
Nelle is spot on in my opinion when it comes to those backlinking techniques.
You do get some benefit from things like she told me, but it is minor in comparison to real links to your own sites.
Internal links definately have value, although again, it is much less than value from a one way link from an external site to your webpage.

I just joined it a few days ago, and have posted bookmarks to almost all of my hubs.I wrote the three or four sentences for each, but not copied from my hub at all. When you post to Snipsly, is it wise to keep the same title as your hub? Or would you change it slightly?I like Snipsly so...

Hello Fellow Hubbers - A few weeks ago I posted a question to the forums asking whether any hubbers had used Reddit.com to create backlinks. Most people reported negative experiences, saying that the reddit community had reacted badly to their attempts at self promotion. It occurs to me that the...

I was wondering if backlinking my sub domain will help me rank better in the search engines. I was thinking the more backlinks I have the more link juice would flow to my article? Or will backlinking my subdomain only help me rank for my name ie Nexusx2?

I've been doing quite a lot of backlinking recently. Can anyone tell me why some sites sometimes award you with a backlink (that shows up in yahoo) and other times they don't? For example, I have sent loads of articles to the usual squad - Xomba, shetoldme, redgage etc, and only now and again does...

I get these kinds of comments literally every freaking day. It's obviously for some sort of spam reason, but I can't figure out what. Here's an example:"Unquestionably believe that that you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to take into accout of. I say to...

If I am getting traffic from dogpile but I have never listed anything with them, could I safely assume that this traffic is from some sort of backlink from someone else? I'm not real savvy in this traffic resource stuff other than reading where it is coming from. Now, I am curous to know...
